Tell us your real names, country of birth, date of birth and childhood experience.

Our real names are Isaac Basal and Nathan Basal; yes, we are brothers! We were born May 24, 1998 and August 5, 1999, respectively. Our childhood experiences were normal and pretty similar. We’re only a year and a bit apart so a lot of it was spent together. We went to the same school, had similar extracurricular activities. And, more often than not, his friends were also my friends (and vice versa).

Tell us about your music career, your band name, musical background, experience and skills.

We are individual artists and we go by the names “Nathan Jacobs” and “Isaac Basal”. We both started playing instruments at the age of 7 years old. While Nathan Jacobs focuses his skills and efforts into his productions mainly, Isaac works on his vocals, guitar, piano, tarbouka, drums and even his dancing ability. Isaac started singing at 14 years old after he got the opportunity to perform with Canadian artist Karl Wolf. Then, Nathan Jacobs started producing only about two years ago and already, his productions are improving every song he creates. We come from a pretty musical family. Our sisters, as well as our mom, sing and play instruments.

.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music video and the song.

Isaac sings more R&B/Pop and Nathan produces more EDM/Dance music; but, because we live in rooms right across form each other, a feature was inevitable. While we were bouncing around some ideas, Nathan thought about how everything in life is so rushed and that there is an immense amount of pressure coming from school, our jobs, our family… pretty much everywhere. As he was ranting, he uttered the words “we need to start taking things One Step At a Time”. And thus, the song had an initial direction. We don’t have a music video yet, but plan to work on one soon.

Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a musician and the ups and downs you have faced in the music business.

The main thing to know about us and music is simple: We love it. It’s such a big part of our lives and to be able to create it such a gift and we can’t NOT take advantage of. A lot of our music is a reflection of our lives or just some creative ideas we come up with in our heads. The dream is to create music that everyone enjoys! We’ve faced many ups and many downs separately and together. Some “downs” include: rejections from playlists, performances for less than 30 people, lack of payed shows for years, many expenses, rejections form radio. But, on the upside, we’ve had: some accepted playlists, some radio play, opening for big artists (Akon, Sean Paul, Aaron Carter), big interviews, international performances, etc..

.

.

.

Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director, how the song was recorded and how the music video was shot.

We started recording the track in Montreal together. But, we were interrupted because Isaac had to fly to Atlanta for a month and a half. So, he finished recording the song out there. Again, a music video has yet to be done!

.

.

.

Tell us how long you have been in the music industry, your experience and your future goal.

Isaac’s been singing professionally since the age of 14 while Nathan only started producing in 2015. Our goal is to make music that everyone loves. That’s it. Isaac constantly mentions that a more specific dream of his is to have an arena with thousands of people singing his songs.

.

.

.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.

So many things inspire us. It can be the stuff that happened to us that day or thoughts on what will happen in 10 years from now. For example, the family went to Mexico last December and we wrote 6 song in 2 weeks. The scenery was inspiring like one can’t imagine. Trying to force it does’t usually bring results.

.

.

.

Tell us the secret behind making a hit song.

A hit song is the result of creativity.

.

.

.

Tell us the message you will like to pass to your fans out there.

“We love you!” It’s because of them we’re doing what we’re doing. They inspire us and allow us to continue making the music we both love. We ask that they keep believing in us and show their support always.

.

.

.

Tell the kind of advice you will give to an upcoming artist.

Be unique. I would ask: “What is it that makes you, you?” Success follows someone who works hard. It chases after those who truly want it. And those rare few who are willing to sacrifice parties, Saturday nights, going to meet up with friends late at night.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have obtained.

Nathan has close to 20 produced songs in his repertoire while Isaac has about 55 recorded songs. Currently, we have many songs out on all media platforms (i.e.: Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Amazon Music, etc…) and radio. We don’t have any albums yet but might start one soon (individually) with potential features including each other.

.

.

.

List Radio or TV Stations that are airing your songs and blogs that have featured you as well and send message to them via this platform.

Isaac’s latest record “Shorty” is on the biggest French radio stations in Quebec, Paris and is being listened to by thousands of others across Canada (English). It’s fast climbing the French charts! (Note: he’s an English artist/vocalist but speaks and sings French; so, the song on radio is a French version.) This is only the beginning for this record, as a music video has yet to be created and more stations plan to play it. As for “One Step At a Time”, we still have hopes of getting it on interested radio stations!

.

.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

The type of song it is defines the vibe we’ll create in the studio. For example, a song that requires a “raspy” feel in the vocals will be recorded in the morning. Contrarily, A song that needs smooth vocals with more demanding notes will be recorded at night and dimmed lights. Not all lyrics to a song, including this one, are created in one day. Inspiration happens spontaneously so we actually use our phones to note down or record any ideas that come to mind when were away from the studio.

.

.

.

Name five biggest artists that you look up to like idols.

For Nathan, the artists that inspire him the most are: Martin Garrix, Cheat Codes. While Isaac’s are: Usher, Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, Michael Jackson and The Beatles. It’s important to know that we look up to these guys as performers, musicians, artists, vocalists and producers. Everything they do artistically grabs our attention.

.

.

.

Name the artists you have collaborated with before in your songs or artists you are willing to collaborate with in the future if you have the chance to do so.

Isaac has collaborated with Grammy award winning producer Cortez Farris, Sean Kingston, and Grammy nominated producer and vocalist Jan Smith (aka: Mama Jan). The artists listed in the previous question would be our answers to who we would love to work in th future. However, it’s not only these artists, but they guys behind them (i.e.: JT’s main producer Timbaland).

Tell us about your happiest day and saddest day.

We’re still waiting for our happiest day!! Isaacs would probably be the dream he mentioned earlier… A pretty bad feeling is rejection. There was a time we kept getting rejected. It got to a point where we even got about 20 rejections in one day…
