Broadtube Music ChannelThe Lovepools – See You In The Funny Papers

October 18, 2017by Kolade Olamide0

Tell us your real names, country of birth, date of birth and childhood experience.

Anthony Shea Hernandez. I was born in the United States on May 10th,1990. My first memories are driving on the 101 in LA and watching the end of 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Tell us about your music career, your band name, musical background, experience and skills.
The name came to me in a dream. I saw a band performing and The Lovepools written on the drummer’s kick drum. It stuck. The Beatles are a major influence as well as modern British acts like Arctic Monkeys. Skills-wise, I write with 60’s style lyric play and song forms. I can play guitar, craft melodies and sing pretty well sometimes too.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music video and the song.
There’s no video for See You In The Funny Papers yet but we have one for Animal Instinct. The concept behind it was to literally compile a bunch of beautiful footage together and make it a ride to watch. The video has no meaning to me, other than being a fun roller coaster of imagery.

Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a musician and the ups and downs you have faced in the music business.
The ups have been writing my best songs and playing recent shows. The downs have been spending time with negative people and spending time in doubt.
.
.
.
Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director, how the song was recorded and how the music video was shot.
I work with John McLucas who records any drum tracks that weren’t programmed. He is a spot-on studio player and has a playing taste I haven’t been able to find anywhere else. Aria Cruz, who is a good songwriter, plays bass for me now. They’re both like unofficial, official members currently. It’s complicated.
.
.
.
Tell us how long you have been in the music industry, your experience and your future goal.
I have been in music for about 10 years, mostly focused on songwriting and singing. I used to be afraid of performing but now there’s nothing as exciting. I have songs I enjoy hearing and playing over and over again and it only took a few years for that to happen. My future goal is to record songs that will be ubiquitous and to tour the world.
.
.
.
Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.
I usually find song inspiration by sitting down and just playing something. However I have a new song I’m working on called, “Do You Wanna Play With Fire?” which was started on vacation in Vegas a few days after a seemingly strong romance came to a brake-screeching stop. Blame it on the redheads.

.
.
Tell us the secret behind making a hit song.
Do what ABBA did which was make every song as catchy as possible. Intend to write better every day. Make your melodies addictive. Craft your lyrics until someone gets goosebumps. Use whatever emotion you’re experiencing to your advantage. Write when you’re angry, sad, inspired, uninspired. Just write cause the more you do it, the more you’ll trust your instincts. If you can do that all the time and be your truly genuine self in song and on paper, you will improve your hidden, hit-making powers.

.
Tell us the message you will like to pass to your fans out there.
Thank you for listening to The Lovepools! I hope to record song after song that will make you happy. You mean the world to me.

Elaborate on your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have obtained.
The first EP I made was just re-released with new cover art entitled, “Safely In My Loveseat EP”. It was the first time I had released music I didn’t want to change. The next EP is more fun probably, but a bit more raw and not as well produced which was my fault at the knobs.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.
I tend to write lyrics on paper first and then they end up on my notes app on my phone. I prefer lyrics to look good in text. Almost like a poem. I like verses to have mini-stories with idioms and weird stuff I come up with that you might not catch immediately. As far as recording goes, I do everything in my bedroom studio.

Name five biggest artists that you look up to like idols.
The Beatles
Radiohead
Led Zeppelin
Bob Dylan
Ben Folds
.
.
.
Name the artists you have collaborated with before in your songs or artists you are willing to collaborate with in the future if you have the chance to do so.
I’d be willing to do a song with Paul McCartney. He seems pretty game. Ben Folds any day of the week!

Tell us about your happiest day and saddest day.
Well. Years ago I had a unique psychedelic experience which killed my ego. To put it into words, I felt only love and only fear and then nothing. It was the best and worst day of my life.
