Tell us your real names, country of birth, date of birth and childhood experience.

Timi Tamminen (29.01.1994) – Finland

Mikko Barck (15.02.1995) – Finland

Tell us about your music career, your band name, musical background, experience and skills.

Mikko: We met during the compulsory Finnish military service and soon after decided to start collaborating regularly, as both of us are multi-instrumentalists with a passion for explosive musical styles. La Porte! was a name Timi had written down as a potential idea ages ago, and suit our vision perfectly.

I play rhythm and lead guitar, bass and drums on the album, Timi sings and also plays lead guitar. I created the instrumental drafts, Timi would then write lyrics and melodies on top of them, as well as focus on the nuances.

.

.

.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music video and the song.

Timi: La Porte! combines crushing guitar walls with explosive vocal performances and dynamic, high-energy song structures. We don’t currently have any music videos.

.

.

.

Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a musician and the ups and downs you have faced in the music business.

Mikko: We both share a long history of playing in various bands, and currently do so as well: Timi Alexander also performs in a trap-pop group Morceau and as a solo artist, I currently work on another (yet unnamed) rock album with some of my friends. We don’t have much experience with the big biz and the major labels (as of now), but are both healthily aware of the trappings that one might face as a professional.

.

.

.

Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director, how the song was recorded and how the music video was shot.

Mikko: Us two wrote, recorded and performed everything on our debut EP. We are driven by a desire for creating powerful DIY music.

.

.

.

Tell us how long you have been in the music industry, your experience and your future goal.

Timi: As mentioned previously, we’ve been working with various ’underground’ musicians for a long time, yet haven’t really experienced the ’more serious’ biz side yet. This, of course, is the ultimate goal, whether as La Porte! or as solo artists. We are driven by a desire to achieve great following, to inspire and collaborate with people from various walks of life.

Mikko: To do this as the sole job is the dream, predictable as it is.

.

.

.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.

Timi: Women of the world.

Mikko: Raw rock and roll.

.

.

.

Tell us the secret behind making a hit song.

Timi: What good is a man that can’t keep a secret?

Mikko: A bottle of whiskey and some vision to back it up. Openly wanting to perform to big audiences while still holding on to one’s own vision without compromises.

.

.

.

Tell us the message you will like to pass to your fans out there.

Timi: Thank you.

Mikko: Thank you. And not to be a bum but I need $ hahaha!

.

.

.

Tell the kind of advice you will give to an upcoming artist.

Timi: There’s already enough Ed Sheeran copycats out there, do something unique and stick to your very own vision, no matter what. Remember, you are the only person with your very own experiences and ideas, no matter how silly they might seem to the naysayers.

Mikko: I support what Timi said.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have obtained.

Mikko: We are currently doing promotion for the EP while planning our next move. Me and Timi are also simultaneously working on our respective solo albums (Timi will be featuring on mine as the vocalist), we’ll keep people updated via our Soundcloud once these releases happen. From what I know, Timi Alexander’s eponymous debut album is out 27.10. with the sound being more in the electronic and experimental realm.

.

.

.

List Radio or TV Stations that are airing your songs and blogs that have featured you as well and send message to them via this platform.

Timi: You guys are the first ones! (Thank you so much for that <3)

.

.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

Timi: I usually prefer working alone, experimenting a lot with different ideas. I do also like co-writing together in a room, as the result is always different from me being in a room by myself. I’m a very intense perfectionist during studio recording, preferring many takes and sometimes working myself into this sort of a recording frenzy that allows me to get things done, albeit it might look slightly scary to . I like variating my approach to lyrics, sometimes writing down lines in advance, sometimes just freestyling them out.

Mikko: A lot of my drafts are born while simply toying around with a guitar, then noticing that a certain lick or a riff sounds like a potential song idea. After that, I just keep whetting the tracks until they start sounding the way I want them to sound.

.

.

.

Name up to five biggest artists that you look up to like idols.

Timi: Chris Cornell, Aphex Twin, Kanye West, Frank Ocean, Mike Patton

Mikko: Johnny Stevens from Highly Suspect (he changed my way of looking at music and life in general in 2016), Slash (inspired me to play guitar) and my Father, the man who made me play guitar in the first place. There’s bands I love a lot but these three names stick out among all else.

.

.

.

Name the artists you have collaborated with before in your songs or artists you are willing to collaborate with in the future if you have the chance to do so.

Timi: I’m extremely open-minded and looking forward to collaborations of any kind, be it whomever. It would be amazing to work with the previously mentioned people, as well as some of my other idols like Graham Bonnet and his amazing voice. Hell, I’d love to co-write with Graham Bonnet, Rammstein’s Till Lindemann and various rappers… And I’m forgetting so many of my idols at the same time, the list goes on and on!

Mikko: I’d do anything to get to work with Johnny Stevens one day. Fingers crossed!

Tell us about your happiest day and saddest day.

Mikko: The saddest day of my life might have been seeing my grandmother suffer from a bad case of liver cancer, realising how ill she truly was and how there would not be much more time for her.

The greatest day of my life is hard to pinpoint because there have been so many good ones. City and Colour’s gig in Amsterdam was one of those days.

Timi: The saddest day of my life was me contemplating suicide, then being confronted by two of my friends. Since then, my life has slowly gotten better and better which I’m extremely glad of. It’s an experience that I cherish in a weird way because it taught me a lot about myself as well as people in general.

The greatest day of my life, there are so many of them! One of them was seeing Chris Cornell live in 2016 during his acoustic tour, then there were two amazing send-offs before I moved to London in 2017 (which in itself was the greatest choice of my life), one of those nights involving MDMA and a bunch of great friends.
