Tell us your real names, country of birth, date of birth and childhood experience.

Stefan and Pamela Myburgh, both South African. Married for 5 1/2 years.

.

.

.

Tell us about your music career, your band name, musical background, experience and skills.

We are .Shotgun Fakes.’ The name began when we fell in love and decided to get married after like 5 years of being friends. We started dating, got engaged and married within 4 months. It was a crazy whirlwind romance. We had a ‘shotgun’ wedding because we got married so quickly but we ‘fakes’ because there was no bun in the oven only true love in the oven! Kind of a cute story.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music video and the song.

The music video is a lyric video and loosely built around the idea of keeping the light burning throughout the night(one way or another) until the full light of morning comes. It is about being courageous in the dark until the morning saves us.

.

.

.

Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a musician and the ups and downs you have faced in the music business.

I don’t know you well enough to tell you all that!! Buy me a drink first 😉

.

.

.

Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director, how the song was recorded and how the music video was shot.

We are pretty much a self contained duo who compose and produce all our own music. Pamela handles the songwriting and lyric writing while Stef handles the composition and production ?mixing, etc.  We shot the video ourselves and edited it ourselves too. So we pretty much handled every aspect of this one. Some of our other more complicated videos we obviously had more help with but this one we did alone basically.

.

.

.

Tell us how long you have been in the music industry, your experience and your future goal.

We have both been in the music industry for just over 12 years. Basically, we want a simple life of making the music and the sound that we are good at and finding a way to get paid for it!

.

.

.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.

Anything. Relationships. God. Sad things with a happy end. Happy things with a sad end. Just different seasons and stages of life also make me reflective and so I will end up writing about that.

.

.

.

Tell us the secret behind making a hit song.

The secret is that there is no secret ! It’s any mans game.

.

.

.

Tell us the message you will like to pass to your fans out there.

We will keep bringing you what we have as hard and as best as we can as long as you are buying our music and supporting us we will keep going. True fans don’t just stream. They also buy.

.

.

.

Tell the kind of advice you will give to an upcoming artist.

Make sure you know how to play at least one instrument. Also, if you can play music on that instrument by yourselves or with others for maybe 8 hours a day than you are ready to be a artist.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have obtained.

We have been touring in the form of a campaign called ‘5’ that we invented to challenge ourselves. ‘Ode to Courage’ is actually part 4 of ‘5.’ 5 stands for 5 songs in 5 different cities over 5 months. We have played Amsterdam, London, Cape Town and LA is the last to be released for this segment.  Although we did not make it in 5 months but rather 10 (life happened!) we still have done the songs and recorded live in each city

List Radio or TV Stations that are airing your songs and blogs that have featured you as well and send message to them via this platform.

Digital Tour bus did a blog on our last release ‘ Inception’ and Indiemono shared it on their Spotify playlist.

In South Africa, ‘Depression Intervention’ was playlisted on a couple of the major radio stations including 5FM and Heart FM.

.

.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

We don’t have a set way that we work, sometimes the music comes first, sometimes the lyrics. It all depends on who has the nugget for that time that we decide how we are going to build the song.

.

.

.

Name five biggest artists that you look up to like idols.

Kimbra, Lorde, Sia, Max Martin, Passion Pit, Fyfe.

.

.

.

Name the artists you have collaborated with before in your songs or artists you are willing to collaborate with in the future if you have the chance to do so.

We did a track with Coke Studio ZA with hip hop rapper, Ricky Rick that was a cool tune. We have also collaborated with Tresor.

I think we would both love a chance to collab with Kimba or Fyfe.
