“Grand Design”

                                                  “Turn for You”

Tell us your real names, country of birth, date of birth and childhood experience.

My name is Roar Eide, born in Norway in May 1973.

.

Tell us about your music career, your band name, musical background, experience and skills.

I’ve been making music for the last 30 years, and played in various local bands, but never put out any music before now. EIDE is really a solo project, but I’ve collaborated with some greatly experienced Norwegian musicians. I play the guitar and sing and I’ve written all my songs with my acoustic guitar. The songs have been arranged by me and my producer Arne Hovda.

.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music video and the song.

We play music that is between Indie Rock and Indie Pop. There has been a focus on melodies and different layers in the music so you discover new things as you listen to the tracks over and over. When I wrote these 11 new songs I had just read the book The Grand Design by Stephen Hawkins and I´m fascinated by the origin of us all. The lyrics can be read and understood in different ways, and it comes down to the listeners if they make the meaning universal or if they take it down to a more personal thing.

.

.

Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a musician and the ups and downs you have faced in the music business.

This album Grand Design is my debut as a recording artist, but I’ve been playing/writing music on and off for the last 30 years. I am true to my own feel and style of doing my music and have yet to experience ups and downs with my music.

.

.

.

Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director, how the song was recorded and how the music video was shot.

I collaborate mostly with my fellow guitar player Geir Pedersen aka Don Despo and my producer Arne Hovda who also plays B3 and other keys. Hovda was in the band The Getaway People and has also worked with artists like Robbie Williams and Tim McGraw. The album was recorded in Asker, Norway in Whiteroom Studio and it´s a «live» recording where vocals and some fills has been added.

.

.

.

Tell us how long you have been in the music industry, your experience and your future goal.

I´m a newbie but I´m determined to keep going with recording more albums. There will be a focus on playing live in 2018 and hopefully we get to play many shows.

.

.

.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.

I get my inspiration from the meaning of life, the struggle to find your ways in life and the thoughts of how our future will be.

.

.

.

Tell us the secret behind making a hit song.

If I knew I´d be rich and famous.

.

.

.

Tell us the message you will like to pass to your fans out there.

Listen to the songs and get the feel for my stories and melodies. Before you know it you are hooked.

.

.

.

Tell the kind of advice you will give to an upcoming artist.

Do what you want and stick to your own thing.

.

.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

I always write a draft of the lyrics first and I then get an instant feel for the melody and mood for the song. I´ll play it out on the acoustic guitar and make a quick demo at home. Then I work on it further with my producer and we make a demo with all instruments. When we hit the studio the musicians will hear the demo and we then count to 3 and start to play. Drums, bass, guitar and keys are usually recorded in a live setting where we all are placed in the same room and play as a band.
