Tell us about your music career, your band name, musical background, experience and skills.

My career has been building professionally for the last 10 years. I started out singing “for fun” (which should always be at the root of it , no matter what level you’re at)…in church, and in elementary school…I went to the University of Mary Washington to study Classical Voice, and then switched my major to Theatre with a minor in Musical Theatre. Studying all of these roots of the performance industry has helped me immensely with my stage presence, technique and confidence.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music video and the song.

I Sing Jazz, and Soul/R&B…For me it all comes from the same place… your “soul” named appropriately….that feeling of strength, vulnerability, love, all permeates from the same place…even folk songs / protest songs which influence my work as well. So the song “Worth It” means a lot to me because it’s been a really difficult season for me literally and spiritually speaking…just being on the road a lot , traveling to new countries which has been beautiful but challenging to my health…however each day, in each new country, (Europe, Spain, Greece etc) I have learned so much about myself and the surrounding world around me….I have learned that “you cannot plan the perfect journey ” which is a lyric in this song…and I believe that firmly …we are not perfect beings therefore we are not going to have perfect days, moments, perfect lives for that matter…BUT it is still WORTH IT..every moment, every up, every down…because as down as we may get on ourselves for our personal decisions, each decision is made out of a universal place …a place of wanting to give or receive love..a place of wanting to be heard, felt and understood. The video, I just wanted to keep it simple yet effective…I come from performing live so I wanted to showcase that in the video focusing on performing the song…keeping the vibes chilled, and relaxed…just like the song… a song you can listen to after you’ve had a shit day or if you’re trying to start your morning.

Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a musician and the ups and downs you have faced in the music business.

The music business is pretty crazy….I’ve experienced a lot of shitty stuff like being cheated from promoters on gigs money wise, from being sexually taken advantage of by misogynistic ass-holes who think that being inebriated is an invitation to grope and grab things that don’t belong to them… I’ve also experienced lovely situations in which strangers have shown me such kindness and respect…I absolutely LOVE Spain… one of my favorite shows I’ve played to date was in Seville for their annual JAZZ FESTIVAL 2017, the hospitality , food, everything, was truly next level.

Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director, how the song was recorded and how the music video was shot.

I love my band they are my ribs and keep me calm and focused before we hit the stage…I met everyone at different points in their lives/my life but they all complement each-other beautifully which is a huge strength of ours
