Tell us your real names, country of birth, date of birth and childhood experience.

Joshua MacGregor on drums, Isaac Dell on guitar, and Henry Breen and bass and vocals. We are from the United States, specifically Minnesota. Why Not formed in September 2016. We all have grown up with music, Isaac has been playing guitar since a very young age, and Henry has also been playing music for his whole life. Josh just picked up drumming about 4 years ago, however he has always been very musical, always listening to music.

Tell us about your music career, your band name, musical background, experience and skills.

Why Not formed as the first serious band for all of us. Our name was chosen as a result of us seeing a painting by Isaac’s mom. It was a very creepy painting of two women with their mouths open. Instead of having teeth, they had the words Why and Not written in their mouths.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music video and the song.

Our genre is weird. We have punk elements, pop elements, rock elements, alternative rock elements, and even math rock elements. I (Josh) like to call ourselves Math Punk. “waste my time.” was one of the first songs we wrote back in 2016.

Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a musician and the ups and downs you have faced in the music business.

I guess one big challenge we have faced is that we are all in high school. Being underage in the music world means that a lot of big venues that serve alcohol will not allow you to play at their venue. This means that we have not had the opportunity to play at the best venues in Minnesota. However, we have used our age as an advantage to gain a whole new audience and to get a lot of other people interested in the Minnesota music scene.

Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director, how the song was recorded and how the music video was shot.

“Waste my Time.” was recorded at THE GARAGE in Burnsville, Minnesota as a result of winning their Battle of the Bands. It was mixed by Bob Lindberg of Gravebomb Studios.

.
.

Tell us how long you have been in the music industry, your experience and your future goal.

We have been in the music industry seriously for around one year. We are hoping to be touring next summer as a short term goal. We may even take a couple weeks off school to tour this year.
.
.
.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.

I guess the biggest thing that inspires us to write is just our love for music and the fact that if we get through all the struggles that come along with being an indie band, we may eventually get to the point where we can live decently off of what we love doing.

.

Tell us the secret behind making a hit song.

The biggest secret behind making a hit song is………………. making it catchy. That is all.
.
.
.

Tell us the message you will like to pass to your fans out there.

Do not give up. Do NOT. Never. Ever. Ever. Ever. If you love doing something, do it, because you really only live once, so make it fucking worth it.
.
.
.

Tell the kind of advice you will give to an upcoming artist.

Same as before. Getting big as a musician is hard, especially if you have a weird genre, but no matter what, if you never give up, you will eventually form a huge audience that loves you guys and loves the music you make.

We have been on: The Current (radio and blog), Radio K, The Basement, and more.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

For “Waste my Time.”, and for most of our songs, we started with a guitar riff, once we had that we added a bass line. From there I made the drum beat and the song just kept on evolving from there.

Name five biggest artists that you like.

Tell us how you will spend a million dollars.

Buy the best instruments in town man. For me personally, I would buy my dream kit, the DW Acrylic. With the rest, we would probably spend it on touring, distribution, promotion, RECORDING, stuff like that.
