Tell us your real names, country of birth, date of birth and childhood experience.

Daren Girdner. United States. 10/21/1990. My childhood was very much surrounded by music. My parents loved everything from Michael Jackson to AC/DC. I was alone a lot of the time and that independence has definitely struck a chord in my music to this day.

Tell us about your music career, your band name, musical background, experience and skills.

I have been making music under the name DVG for a little over 5 years. I have experimented with music and done my best to sift through my inspirations and truly find my sound. I think I have only achieved that in the past couple months.

.

.

.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music video and the song.

I am still unsure on what genre my music falls under. I like to label it as rap indie wave. I haven’t heard anyone else say this before but I like to think my music would be rap that you listen to at the beach. My new record Last Breath is inspired by my best friend who passed away when we were 21. I also delve into the idea of death and how I am terrified of it.

.

Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a musician and the ups and downs you have faced in the music business.

Doing this on my own has had its ups and downs. In the 5 years that I have been doing this there hasn’t been a single producer and or label that has shown any interest in my music. Not that having their validation is necessary to the process but it definitely doesn’t hurt it. For a while this caused me to doubt myself and music but I realized I’ve always done things independently– why would it be any different now?

.

.

Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director, how the song was recorded and how the music video was shot.

Everything besides mixing and mastering was done by me in my bedroom.

I plan to be on Billboard and billboards.

Tell us the secret behind making a hit song.

Does anyone actually have an answer for this? Nobody I know does.

.

.

.

Tell us the message you will like to pass to your fans out there.

Keep creating whatever your art is. One day it will pay off and cause you immense fulfillment — I hope.

.

.

.

Tell the kind of advice you will give to an upcoming artist.

If you don’t like it– why should they?

.

.

.

Elaborate on your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have obtained.

My EP “My Life Became Beautiful” charted #1 in a few countries on iTunes and got down to #10 in America. That is pretty neat.

.

List Radio or TV Stations that are airing your songs and blogs that have featured you as well and send message to them via this platform.

They don’t fuck with my music.

.

.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

The studio is my bedroom. Everything I make is a happy accident. I actually mess around until something good comes out of it.  9 times out of 10 it is bad but you only have to get it right once. That isn’t actually true but it makes me feel better.

.

Name the artists you have collaborated with before in your songs or artists you are willing to collaborate with in the future if you have the chance to do so.

I have collaborated with a close friend of mine who is immensely talented. Meghan Tonjes. I would love to work with Jon Bellion.

Happy: Playing a show on my first tour ever in a Boston antique shop while sick with a viscous cold. The crowd was insane.
