Tell us your real names, country of birth, date of birth and childhood experience.

My name is Caroline Duke. I was born in Stockholm, Sweden. Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I remember my childhood being partly very creative, playful and happy and on the other hand quite chaotic.

Tell us about your music career, your band name, musical background, experience and skills.

I’ve been writing songs since I was eight years old and I’ve experimented with different styles throughout the years. About 5 years ago I feel like I found my music style and started letting go thoughts of what I thought people wanted to hear. I just decided that I wouldn’t care about that anymore and just make the music that I wanted to hear. At the end of 2016 I released my debut EP “Lovers and Madmen”. The songs are inspired by cinematic themes such as romance and crime and the fine line between love and madness.

.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music video and the song.

The genre is baroque pop/dark pop. I’m very fascinated by the darker aspects of life when it comes to art. I work with a lot of contrasts, so I love to sing about romance with darker elements.

Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a musician and the ups and downs you have faced in the music business.

Been in the music business is like riding the roller coaster. There’s always going to be ups and downs. Sometimes set-backs only fuel my fire and sometimes I really want to quit. But I keep doing what I’m doing because I love it so much. When things are going well, it feels so incredibly good. Somehow it’s just worth it. For me it’s really important to stay true to who I am and my music. I’ve been given so called advice that I should write bubblegum pop just to sell. If I would have loved bubble gum pop than it would have been a different story, but I really don’t.

.

.

Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director, how the song was recorded and how the music video was shot.

I write all the music/lyrics by myself. My producer is Dino Medanhovic plays all the instruments on my EP and have arranged my music.

.

.

.

Tell us how long you have been in the music industry, your experience and your future goal.

Well officially I got into the music business in 2016, although I’ve been writing and recording music for some time.

.

.

.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.

Basically I write whatever is on my mind. I usually tend to keep a cinematic approach since I love telling stories. When I listen to music I want to be taken away into another world sort of speak, and that’s what I want to achieve when other people listen to my music. And if I hit a nerve or if my listeners feel like they can personally identify with my lyrics, for me that is just amazing. The entire writing process can be so different. Sometimes I can get an idea for a song on the bus or like when I’m out and about, and I’m like shit! I need to write this down and record it as soon as possible until I can get home! And sometimes I can just improvise something on my keyboard and then it turns into a song. I write several songs every week so for me it’s just a natural part of my life.

.
.
.

Tell us the secret behind making a hit song.

I honestly couldn’t tell you. I just don’t think in those terms since it restricts the writing process. But when you’ve written a kick-ass song, then you know in your gut that you’re on to something extra special.
.

.

.

Tell us the message you will like to pass to your fans out there.

First of all, I’m so grateful. To me it’s amazing when people respond to my music. All my love to you!

.

.

.

Tell the kind of advice you will give to an upcoming artist.

Follow your heart and your instinct. If something doesn’t feel right, don’t do it, even if people from the business promise you fame and fortune.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have obtained.

Haven’t gotten that far yet! Have an EP out and planning on releasing a sophomore EP next year.

Thank you so, so much for sharing my music. It means the world to me!

.

.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

Like I mentioned earlier, the writing process can be quite different. When I record in the studio, I have a finished song. When I enter the studio I’ve already prerecorded the background music so I can do the vocals first. After that my producer takes over, records and arranges all the instruments.

.

Name five biggest artists that you like.

Rammstein

Sabaton

Tool

Nick Cave

Tori Amos

Name the artists you have collaborated with before in your songs or artists you are willing to collaborate with in the future if you have the chance to do so.

So far I never co-written anything, I write all my songs by myself. However one of my biggest dreams is to collaborate with Trent Reznor or Maynard Keenan.

Without hesitation, I’d buy a house and build my own recording studio in the basement.
