Tell us your real names, country of birth, date of birth and childhood experience.
Manu & Ayay met as middle schoolers in a small town on the outskirts of Portland, Oregon. Manu Togafau is a 24 year old born and raised to a Samoan family in Oregon. Aaron Ferguson is also 24, but originally from Northwest Alaska and moved to Oregon at age 11. We grew up with a tight-knit group of crazy and unconventional friends living in sleepy town, so we had to get creative in order to fill our time. Whether it was starting a clothing company in high school, staying out late roaming the town and getting into trouble, or freestyling for hours into the night, we always gravitated towards music and the arts to express themselves and reach out to others.

Tell us about your music career, your band name, musical background, experience and skills.
We’ve been collaborating musically for nearly a decade. Beginning with sharing slam poetry, raps and freestyles, we moved on to serious music production around 2012 and have regularly collaborated since. sending tracks back and forth to each other even as we both traveled and lived in different regions around the world including Israel, Samoa, Los Angeles and more.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music video and the song.
Our genre interests are wide spread and diverse, rooted in growing up alongside the birth of open source streaming platforms like Soundcloud, which we have been actively involved in for years. Electric Nocturnal, the title track for our debut full-length album is a great expression of the diverse range of musical interests we bring together into one, tight, groovy and exhilarating experience. We want to make people feel good and create an irresistible urge to get up and move! The track brings inspirations from dance, jazz, 90s RnB/Pop, and even some UK house and garage music.

Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a musician and the ups and downs you have faced in the music business.
Our biggest battles have been against ourselves. We have made countless songs over the years, ones that we’ve loved and ones that we’ve hated. Besides sharing with close friends or anonymously over the internet, we’ve never made a concerted effort to go all-out and share what we create. We have a totally different approach now.

Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director, how the song was recorded and how the music video was shot.
Besides a few close friends we featured on other tracks, the album is entirely composed, produced and mixed by us. Special thanks to Matt from FullCircleMastering for the excellent mastering work!

.

Tell us how long you have been in the music industry, your experience and your future goal.
We have years off experience in the world of art, but we are now setting our sites on big promotional goals and aim to do plenty of concerts, shows and house parties in the year to come.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.

.

Tell us the secret behind making a hit song.
Pay close attention to what people are feeling the most and who is putting out the best hits! Then think about what people will want to hear 1 year from now. We want to create tracks that push the music scene forward rather than try and capture what is already on its way out. Most of all, we want to capture something that we would love and be blown away by.
