Tell us about your music career, your band name, musical background, experience and skills.

I have been seriously involved in music since my senior year of high school when I released my first EP on SoundCloud. My artist name is Kabwasa. I have been participating in music all of my life. I went to a charter school for the arts in elementary school and I have been preforming in shows and musical events all my life. I put my focus into Hip-hop as an outlet. I love writing and Hip-hop is the best artistic way for me to express myself.

.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music video and the song.

My genre is Conscious Hip-Hop/Rap, I have a sort of old school flow behind my rap and I like to incorporate new style beats to that old school flow. For my song “A Part of The World” the concept was that no one really knows why they are here on Earth but in reality we are all just here to live and experience life. We are simply here to be a part of the world.

.

Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a musician and the ups and downs you have faced in the music business.

As I explain in this song I am very new to the music business. For this reason my low number of followers and content make people think I am not serious about my music and I am often taken for just another rapper on Soundcloud. My goal is to prove that I have much much more to offer.

.

.

.

Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director, how the song was recorded and how the music video was shot.

For this song I worked a lot with my producer Little AZU. Along with the fact that he created the modern beat that brings this song together, he also worked with me to mix and master the project. I also worked with a guest singer that goes by AVI. She has a soft soothing voice that I felt would go perfectly with the lyrics that I wrote for the hook.

.

.

.

Tell us how long you have been in the music industry, your experience and your future goal.

I have been in the music industry for about a year now. I am still new to the industry but my goals are clear. I want to share my music with the world and eventually gain enough followers to send messages with my music that can hold the power to make changes.

.

.

.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.

I am inspired mostly by the artists that I listen to now. I couldn’t go a single day without listening to music and the artists that I listen to are where the majority of my inspiration comes from. Conscious rappers like Kendrick Lamar, Isaiah Rashad, Lupe Fiasco, J Cole, and more, are the artists that I am heavily influenced by in my own work.

Tell us the secret behind making a hit song.

A hit song to me has to come from a place deeper than just the surface. If the song that you write means a lot to you and you are passionate about it, odds are it will turn out to be an amazing song. That what I go by. If it sounds right and feels right then it will be a hit when the right person hears it.

.

.

.

Tell us the message you will like to pass to your fans out there.

Everyone is capable of creating art and everyone should put effort into the art form that they are passionate about. I think art is so important and you should never feel like what you have to share isn’t good enough. If it brings you joy and pride then it is something worths sharing.

.

.

.

Tell the kind of advice you will give to an upcoming artist.

Be persistent. Everyone gets turned down in music. Never let that discourage you. If you believe there’s a place for your music out there then you have to fight for it and never give up.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have obtained.

I have put out one EP in the past entitled “BROUGHT UP” and it is currently  available on my SoundCloud. In addition to that I recently release 3 professionally recorded singles. These singles are available everywhere (iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Google Play, etc) and will eventually be a part of my new EP called “Groovy Kid” which will be available exclusively on SoundCloud. This new EP will be coming out very soon so be sure to be on the lookout for the “Groovy Kid” EP by Kabwasa.

List Radio or TV Stations that are airing your songs and blogs that have featured you as well and send message to them via this platform.

Broadtube is one of the first blogs to feature my work and I am extremely grateful for them and the exposure they provide. I am also set to be broadcasted on the University of Southern California official Radio Station which will also be a big step in exposure for me.

.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

While a lot of writers like to write on the computer, I find myself more connected with my lyrics when I write in my book. I have multiple books full of pages and pages of writing. some have been turned into songs and some are just poems. But for the writing that I choose to turn into songs I like to record a rough draft first and if I like it enough I will then take the steps to getting it recorded professionally in whatever studio I can get access to.

Tell us about your happiest day and saddest day.

One of the happiest days of my life was the day I was admitted into the University of Southern California. This was the beginning of the future for me.

One of the saddest days of my life was when my grandmother passed. She was such a strong mentor for me and that is the reason behind the artwork for this song (an old image of my grandma and I in the garden)

Tell us how you will spend a million dollars.

I would spend a million dollars on the people that need it more than I do. There are too many people in this world who have nothing. If I could use a million dollars to give 5 people with nothing a chance at life I would do that.
