Tell us your real names, country of birth, date of birth and childhood experience.
Astrid Cordes, January 14 1987 and Simon Kjeldgaard October 13 1988. Both born and raised in Denmark. Well we weren’t really children more like teenagers. We toke a three year program at the local music school and we had several classes together every week, but for some reason we didn’t really talk. One of us was kind of loud /Astrid), the other kind of quiet (Simon). Then one day we were put together to make a retake of the all time favorite song Something by the Beatles and we found out we had a lot more in common than we thought.

Tell us about your music career, your band name, musical background, experience and skills.
A few years ago we started helping each other out with our individual songwriting projects and as result we ended up writing a song called “Do Not Ask” together. We didn’t really know which one of us were going to sing it, so we recorded two sets of vocals. By accident we pushed play on both of them and immediately we knew we had to make a band. The song became our first single and singing in unison became one of our trademarks.
We have known each other quite a few years now and as mentioned we went to the same music school. Later on we both studied at The Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Denmark. We have played together in many different projects of all kinds of genres but both of us have always had a soft spot for indie music, be it indie pop, indie rock or indie folk. The name Shy shy shy is stolen from a Lykke Li Song called Dance Dance Dance. She sings about being shy, but casting her self awareness aside when dancing. That is how music works for us plus we thought it sounded really cool.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music video and the song.
The easiest way to describe our genre is to call it pop. We get inspired by many different sounds and we aren’t afraid to use elements from country, hip hop, rock, jazz or what ever sounds interesting to us. Our concept is the mix of boy/girl vocals, analogue synthesizer and relatable lyrics.
“Making a Fool” is an ode to bad first impressions. We all know how it feels to make an ass of yourself in front of someone you fancy.

Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a musician and the ups and downs you have faced in the music business.
We just try to give our all and make the best music we can. The best part of all this is playing live and meeting the fans and experience the music with them. The worst part is playing for people who don’t listen. We would rather play a show for five people who love the music and want to be there instead of 5000 who would rather be somewhere else.

Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director, how the song was recorded and how the music video was shot.
When we play live Simon sings and plays the guitar, Astrid plays drum pads and sings. Apart from that we have Asker Bjørk on the drums, Peter Skibsted on keys and Símun Mohr on bass. Right now we spend all our time at FishCorp studios in Copenhagen finishing the upcoming album. The producer is called Rune Borup and has worked with a lot of different cool Danish artists such as Winnie Who and I got You On Tape. Simon and I have written the songs in forehand and Rune helps us to make them sound better than we could ever imaging.

.

Tell us how long you have been in the music industry, your experience and your future goal.
Shy shy shy have existed since august 2014. We have released a five song EP called “Love Songs”. The three singles have all received great air time on Danish national radio and still do. We have mostly played Danish shows including SPOT festival and Roskilde Festival but we have also played a few shows in Scotland and Germany. MS Dockville in Hamburg being one of the highlights.
We are releasing a live video in the beginning of 2018 and our debut album March 2nd. The plan is to tour Denmark during spring and focus on festivals over the summer.

.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.
We simply can’t help ourselves 🙂 The lyrics are all based on our own experiences. The upcoming album is going to focus on the awkward, embarrassing and sometimes hurtful aspects of being alive.

.

.

.

Tell us the secret behind making a hit song.
You never know what is going to be a hit, but we try to make music that we ourselves would want to put on and listen to.

.

.

.

Tell us the message you will like to pass to your fans out there.
You are not alone. We are all the same. Everybody hates making a bad first impression, everybody looks up to someone and everybody fucks up sometime. We think of music as a way to mirror life and a place to find comfort and a sense of community.

.

.

.

Tell the kind of advice you will give to an upcoming artist.
Make music you like, work with people you trust.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have obtained.
We already said it all. Except from the fact that we make an effort to have our music placed in movies and commercials. So far we have had about 10 placements.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.
We write everything together. It always begins with one of us presenting an idea for the other one. It could be a line, some chord, a riff or what ever. Most of our songs are composed on Simons Roland Juno-60 and an old Roland TR-505 drum machine.

LCD Soundsystem, The Beatles, Beck, HAIM and Blood Orange.

.

Name the artists you have collaborated with before in your songs or artists you are willing to collaborate with in the future if you have the chance to do so.

We haven’t work with other artists but if any of the five above called us up, we wouldn’t say no.

Tell us about your happiest day and saddest day.
It is difficult naming the happiest of them all but the day we played Roskilde Festival was definitely one to remember. The same goes for sad days, it is hard picking one but the day David Bowie past away was tragic.

Tell us how you will spend a million dollars.
It is kind of boring but we would probably just spend them on old synthesizers and studio time.
