Tell us about your music career, your band name, musical background, experience and skills.

(Toobe Fresco) started in music when I was 10 years old by just writing raps. Over the years, music became a true passion and I started to turn my focus to the actual musicality. I rap, sing, produce, engineer and play keyboard. I started my band “The Living Sound” in October 2016 as my very first band endeavor.

.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music video and the song.

The genre I identify us as is Hip Hop Soul. It’s a blend of modern Rap beats and styles with the feel of classic Hip Hop and 70’s soul music. The band name is The Living Sound, that idea came from a conversation with a good friend about how music and sound lives through the generations of the world.

.

Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a musician and the ups and downs you have faced in the music business.

The song was recorded during one of our rehearsal sessions for an upcoming concert. We only recorded the song with one mic and didn’t even intend for it to be a released track. But, I took it into the studio and split the frequencies to mix it into a clean production and it worked.

.

.

.

Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director, how the song was recorded and how the music video was shot.

All of the members of the band were friends before we got together. I got the idea to start the band after I did a concert with my Dj’s band last year. I wanted to bring something different to the table for Hip Hop.

.

.

.

Tell us how long you have been in the music industry, your experience and your future goal.

I’ve been in the industry professionally s since I was 17 years old and I’m 25 now. I didn’t really have guidance starting out so I bumped my head a lot, but God opened my mind up to seeing different ways things could work and to stay focused. My future goal? I just want to inspire people to love, love God, love themselves and live.

.

.

.

.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.

I long inspire people to follow their passions and use the talents they were blessed with. That’s what really inspires me to write and compose. There’s a lot of native things out here, man, and its hard to stay away from those things but you have to stay focused on the larger mission and your blessing. You can easily lose sight of that but you have to remember what you have and sometimes people need to be reminded of that.

.

.

.

Tell us the secret behind making a hit song.

Haha, it’s not really a secret to make a hit song. Just follow what you feel and don’t substitute your beliefs for anything. It’ll translate itself.

.

.

.

Tell us the message you will like to pass to your fans out there.

I want to pass the message of hope and love to my fans. I want people to listen to my work and feel the love I have for the passion, the faith and my love for them.

.

.

.

Tell the kind of advice you will give to an upcoming artist.

Advice I would give to another artist is to just do it. Don’t let people or anything distract you. Pray on the moves and make them. If they don’t go well that doesn’t mean you have failed, it just means you needed to learn something.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have obtained.

We’ve performed at the House of Blues, I’ve had my music featured in numerous publications in the city of Cleveland and beyond such as Call & Post, Cleveland Scene, Plain Dealer, and a few more. I was featured on Jay-Z’s Roc4Life blog site before it merged with RocaWear website. Just to name a few. I’ve released over 7 mixtapes through the span of my career.

.

.

.

List Radio or TV Stations that are airing your songs and blogs that have featured you as well and send message to them via this platform.

I was featured on the UpBeat show that aired WUAB in 2016. That was my first television appearance.

.

.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

It literally takes me 2 months to finish most of my verses, aha. But it allows me time to just meditate on them and to rest on them until I feel ready to finish them. I don’t like to rush my music.

.

.

.

Name five biggest artists that you like.

The five biggest artists that I like are J Cole, Chance The Rapper, Prince, Stevie Wonder, and Big Sean.

.

.

.

Name the artists you have collaborated with before in your songs or artists you are willing to collaborate with in the future if you have the chance to do so.

I’ve collaborated with a lot of different local artists in Cleveland, like my friends Joey Aich, OkayChe’ and Riz Leigh. I would love to collaborate with Big Sean and Chance The Rapper one day.
