Tell us about your music career, band name, musical background, experience and skills.

Charlywood has existed since 2010 and we got wicked experience and mad skillz.

.

.

.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music video and the song.

We are an indie pop rock band and we prefer to leave the listener to have their own experience of the music rather than tell them what to feel and think about it, the concept of the video is to make it chaotic and frantic while conveying as much energy as possible. Also we tried really hard to look like super cool dudes, cause that is important.

.

.

.

Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a musician and the ups and downs you have faced in the music business.

We as a band try to make noises that authentically catch what it means to be human, music should present truth. We try and stay out of the business and make as much music as possible 😉 To be honest the “business” side of music has shown little interest in us so far. We have our fans and are grateful for that.

.

.

.

Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director, how the song was recorded and how the music video was shot.

Natter and Lewey play drums and lead guitar respectively. Markus is responsible for bass duties and Andy sings and plays rhythm guitar

We shot the video with our camera lady Manon in our cellar rehearsal room in Vienna. The song was recorded live in RSL studios in Slovenia along with the rest of the album.

.

.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.

Songs are inspired by listening to other artists and music, they come more or less fully formed when I am doing other things (mostly cycling or walking). Melodies chords and riffs are easy. Lyrics sometimes take days of solid work to get right.

.

.

.

Tell us the secret behind making a hit song.

I will get back to you once I have written a hit song.

.

.

.

Tell us the message you will like to pass to your fans out there.

You never call or write! 😉

.

.

.

Tell the kind of advice you will give to an upcoming artist.

If you are doing it for the money, do yourself a favour and choose another path. If you are still listening, just try and tell the truth and people will hear it. If you can accept the fact that you are statistically unlikely to ever “make it” and you still feel like you have to make music, no one can stop you from making the art that is inside you. Do not wait for permission to start.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have obtained.

We just released our 2nd album, have toured the UK and Germany as well as Austria and get some nice recognition from musicians and people who stumble across our music on the internet or wander into our concerts.

List Radio or TV Stations that are airing your songs and blogs that have featured you as well and send message to them via this platform.

Mystic sons, Heavy Metal T-shirts, Volume.at, Weekend.at, Leosigh and lots of college radio stations too numerous and various to mention have featured us at one point or another, message to them: Thanks for featuring us!

.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

We don’t have the money to compose or write lyrics in the studio since they charge by the day and we are true indie (meaning we paid for the record ourselves). Therefore we rehearsed the crap out of the whole album before we went to the studio and played it in live in 5 days. Vocals were recorded at home on my own single channel studio setup. This was challenging because you have to give 100% with absolutely no feedback from the band or a producer, if you listen carefully to the whole album you can hear me talking to myself at the end or beginning of takes, trying to get into the right heads-pace.

.

Name five biggest artists that you like.

Foo fighters, Biffy Clyro, Dave Mathews band, Incubus and The Who.

.

.

.

Name the artists you have collaborated with before in your songs or artists you are willing to collaborate with in the future if you have the chance to do so.

I would love to work with Mark Ronson on an album because I feel like he would understand the fun energy of a lot of our music.
