Tell us about your music career, band name, musical background, experience and skills.

I am just starting out this year in the music industry. I have already had a decent amount of success, garnering millions of streams, plays, views across multiple social music platforms. I am a solo artist and go by my given name. I have been around music my whole life performing in choirs and musical competitions and writing music for years. I was classically trained in music and sight-reading which gave me a unique perspective when I began writing pop music.

.

.

Tell us about your genre, the concept and idea behind your music and the song.

My genre is a mix of commercial pop, dance, house, trap and singer-songwriter. The idea for this song was inspired by a friend’s relationship that ended after many years. I also used times when I’d been lied to for the idea.

Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a musician and the ups and downs you have faced in the music business.

As a musician, you should know I care a lot about what I do and try to put my whole heart into every project. The only down I’ve had the chance to experience in the industry so far is the uphill battle of not knowing where to start and how to grow your fan base. I’ve had to learn a lot by myself and thanks to Google. It gets easier over time.

.

.

.

Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director, how the song was recorded.

I don’t have any band members. I did co-write the song with Krysta Youngs and she also produced the piano you hear in the song. 24 Violins did the strings arrangement on the track. John Ho produced the vocals and mixed/mastered the track.

.

.

.

Tell us how long you have been in the music industry, your experience and your future goals.

I have been in the industry for only 9 months. I’ve really only released and distributed my own music. My goals are to gain the attention of a record label and/or publishing company and to eventually write a hit song for myself or another artist.

.

.

.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.

I get inspired by channeling energy. I put myself in the shoes of myself in hypothetical situations, or in the shoes of my friends in real situations they’ve experienced. I like to have a perspective when writing to really bring out the true emotion.

.

Tell us the secret behind making a hit song.

Write from the heart, don’t overthink it and be original.

Tell us the message you would like to pass on to your fans out there.

Thank you for your support! I appreciate it more than you know.

.

What advice would you give to an upcoming artist.

Learn AS MUCH as you can about the music business first. You must know, at least generally, how to navigate this difficult industry and be able to protect yourself.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your music career, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have obtained.

My music is just getting started as I mentioned. Love and Learn is my first EP so I haven’t had the chance to tour or earn any awards. I am looking forward to what’s to come!

List Radio or TV Stations that are airing your songs and blogs that have featured you as well.

I’m not aware of any Radio or TV Stations airing any of my music at the moment.

.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

If I’m writing a song from scratch I will usually do one of two things: either tap out a rhythm at a certain tempo and then write lyrics that sync up well to that rhythm; or I’ll play chords on the piano and start developing catchy melodies that I can write lyrics over later. Otherwise, sometimes I will write to track, where the music is already produced and I write the lyrics and melody over that.

In the studio, the melody develops over the session and then the adlibs and harmonies are created between me and the producers and writers.

Name the five biggest artists that you like.

Super Fruit, Sia, MAX, Oh Wonder and SoMo.

Name the artists you have collaborated with before in your songs or artists you are willing to collaborate with in the future if you have the chance to do so.

I haven’t had the opportunity to collaborate yet but would love to do so down the line!

Tell us about your happiest day and your saddest day.

The happiest day of my life was when I finally graduated with my Bachelors Degree after being in and out of college for 6 years. My saddest day was when one of my best friends passed away from cancer.

Tell us how you would spend a million dollars.

If I had a million dollars, I would spend part of it paying off student loans, part of it on friends and family, part would go to charity and the rest would be invested.
