Rod Best was in the Christian music scene for over 30 years. In that time he worked with such people as Geoff Bullock, Chris Falson, Dave Evans, Darlene Zschech, Tim Uleweira, and of recent days Olivia Mc Clurkin (previously backing vocalist for Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, George Michael). His work has involved training and developing of singers, musicians and worship leaders, music arrangements for small stage band through to large orchestras, direction of major musical productions and song composition.
Over the years, Rod has recorded three original Praise and Worship Albums “Times of Refreshing”, “Lord I Give You Praise” and “Wings Of The Wind”, and has produced a number of albums for various artists. Rod studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in Jazz Improvisation and Advanced Arranging, developing a wealth of experience in composition and arrangement in jazz and contemporary keyboarding styles. He has also studied under some great Australian jazz piano players including Tony Ansell, Mike Nock, Michael Bartolomei, Chuck Yates, Judy Bailey, Dave Fennell, Vince Genova and Kevin Hunt. He studied at Jazz Worx in Brisbane and received an Associate Diploma in Jazz. Rod is married to Jan and has two daughters. He has released instrumental albums called “Best Of Smooth”, “The Best of Rod Best”, singles including “Going Places” “Move ‘n’ Groove”, “Lazy Days”, “Besty’s Bossa” and “Turn Up the Heat” and he has finished a collaboration EP project with “Light of Love” from Chicago called “The Best Of Christmas”. For the last two years he has been the Senior Pastor of Riverlands church in Gayndah, Queensland, Australia. He continues to pursue his music in his spare time.
