Tell us about your music career, band name, musical background, experience and skills.

I started listening to hip hop at a very young age from it being surrounded at home with 2 older brothers and still to this day it’s the only music I really listen to. I started writing lyrics on top of hip hop beats when I was about 11 years old and then began recording and mixing hip-hop songs for my friends and when I was 15 and also released content on youtube and soundcloud. When I was 16 and 17 I released 2 mixtape on Datpiff and continued to release music videos for the singles on youtube. While growing up I kept mixing on programs like Pro Tools and got better with every song released. Just this past summer I independently released my debut album on all streaming platforms ‘Tales of a HotHead’. The album consists of certain singles such as “Kamikaze” , “No Hook” and “Anti-Social”. The music videos for all 3 singles can be found on youtube. 2 months ago along with a group of friends who I have made music with for a long time decided to join forces and release music under the same group Team Lo which consists of Larok, Keyon, G.L and Eyezic. All artists release solo songs on the Team Lo youtube page along with features with other members of the group. Within the last month we have released numerous singles to youtube such as “Ayyy”, “Imma Make It” “Paradise”and the most recent music video “LOST” . We are currently in the process on having them be released on all streaming platforms. What makes me unique amongst other MC’s is I’m able to bring good lyrics with good imagery into a nice melody on a beat. Not many artists get to lyrical now in days on a big production song and some people try to get to lyrical which just doesn’t work. I have found the skill to find the median bringing cool musical dynamics into a rap song along with lyrics that give imagery. From my years of being involved with hip hop music I’m very versatile with styles and can pretty much adapt to any type of hip hop music.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music video and the song.

Myself and Team Lo have got to a point in our production in how we like our sound and it’s very unique using lots of layers and panning techniques which you can hear in the music video “LOST”. I’m obviously categorized as an hip hop artist, hip hop is my genre but my music could be thrown in a sub-genere for sure. I really don’t have a name for our niche type music other then Lo Life Music or occasionally referred to as Lunatik Musik…The odd time our music will make u chill out and be calm but for the most part were based off energy and excitement. The concept of the song was to really detail how I was feeling at the given time writing the song and at the same time, keep the recording dynamically interesting. So the extra dubbing at certain key points or harmonizing vocals but panning them separately was all to create 1.character and 2.dynamics/interest.

Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a musician and the ups and downs you have faced in the music business.

All you need to know is I’m a work horse when it comes to this music, it’s sickening how long I can stay in a recording studio and continually work. I have a dream and have had it for way too long to just quit now, if anything the work load is only going to get bigger and you will hear about me and the team in the future, were not going anywhere. I treat this music like a sport, where I practise everyday all day on the exact same craft and I come with that never ending competition. The lyrics I write on songs are to grasp your attention and paint a picture in your mind using sound. Everything I write comes from something from somewhere, either a personal situation/experience or even sometimes experiences I know other people have had. That’s why people are able to connect it because the lyrics are just being made up, they are thought through strategically.  I don’t like to be too detailed with lyrics but I like being detailed enough you get the point. Some of the ups and downs you will find out in this music business is that there’s a lot of jealousy. Some people you may  think supported you have really been praying on your downfall just so you’r there with them. The ups are is that It’s simply fun and you can live off having fun.

Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director, how the song was recorded and how the music video was shot.

Other members of Team Lo are “Larok”, “Keyon”, “G.L”and “Eyezic”. All artists live and work within the London, Ontario area and we have known each other for years, none of the relationships are new. This circle took years to establish and now it’s finally happened. Right now we don’t have any exclusive producers, we are really working with anyone we want to work with right now, if you got the fire we will follow. Same thing with video directors but the 5 music videos I’ve released including “LOST” have been shot and directed by “Miticulous Media”so there are some go to connections I have when it comes to the video work. The song “LOST” was recorded, mixed, mastered and engineered by myself at the Fanshawe College studios and the beat for the song was produced by Ditty Beatz.

.

Tell us how long you have been in the music industry, your experience and your future goal.

As far as being in the “Industry”I could really only say I’ve been in it for 8 months because that’s when I started to see some revenue come in but I mean I’m still in the shallow end of the pool. To get deeper where I want to be we’re just going to keep up with quality and quantity and never slow down. With the new business model in place I have only seen progression so far for all my team and I believe it’s going to stay like that. The end goal is basically to have all our careers built where we can travel the world, live with happiness and achieve the things we want through music. We all have families that count and support on us so the end goal for all of this is  to have our people live good for the rest of their lives problem free.

.

.

.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.

A big thing that inspires me to write is the competition element that’s involved. I see you do something big now I want to do it bigger because I know I can and if I can’t then I rather find out trying. The main thing that inspires me to write though is life itself, without life experiences I would have nothing to write about.

.

Tell us the secret behind making a hit song.

A secret to making a hit song is letting things go. When you try getting too detailed it ruins the naturalness of music. Let things go and be free but at the same time keep self awareness. If it sounds off it is. If it sounds like the best thing you ever made, it probably is as well.

.

.

.

Tell us the message you will like to pass to your fans out there.

The message I would say to my supporters is that I don’t call you guys fans, you guys are fams. Fans make you guys sound crazy and I know you’r not, I know you guys are regular people that happen to like good music, just like me. You guys are my supporters, my friends, my family and I’m really appreciative of all of you. Stay up, stay busy and get that money ya.

.

.

.

Tell the kind of advice you will give to an upcoming artist.

If you have that much confidence in yourself and the music then invest in yourself and don’t stop but at the same time don’t do this expecting something at the end. I’ve been doing this for 10 years and If I did this for 10 years hoping to make money from it I would have quit long time ago. I did it for 10 years because I know I’m good and I can be something big someday. One thing I learned is that I had to invest in myself before I’d ever see any return and that’s probably the biggest thing, money makes the world go round and no one is given out hand outs.

Elaborate on your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have obtained.

This past summer I released a 17 track album ‘Tales of a HotHead’ all produced by different producers but recorded, mixed and mastered by myself. As of right now we are currently working on pushing out tracks under the Team Lo page and have been releasing a track a week and continue to do so. 2 of our artists ‘Larok’and ‘Keyon’ are currently in the process of recording their debut EP’s.

List Radio or TV Stations that are airing your songs and blogs that have featured you as well and send message to them via this platform.

As of now we have been working within the local area and have had Word Is Bond written an article on Larok’s solo single “Paradise” as well as the Consignment Show played our tracks on Tuesday nights on 94.9 Radio Western.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

When writing a song I find a beat that first makes me feel a type of way and then I write accordingly. Sometimes I can write songs less then an hour and others take me weeks to get finished the way I want, every track is different it’s hard to put a recipe to it. If I don’t come up with something catchy within the first minute it means I need to move on to something else. Once the song Is written, I record usually using a condenser mic in the studio and then mix the song in Pro Tools.

Name five biggest artists that you like.

It changes every week but this week it’s Loski, Gucci Mane, 67, Russ and Rico Recklezz.

.

.

Name the artists you have collaborated with before in your songs or artists you are willing to collaborate with in the future if you have the chance to do so.

I’ve worked mainly with the artists from the home Team besides a few exceptions with collaborations with Toronto artists Ragz, East-Coast rapper BNE from City Natives and local London, Ontario artist Antoine Rouge . For the future I mainly want to work with other artists within the local area such as Ngajuana, Jux Cain, Snapz Kush, Dawn Rell and a few others of course.

Tell us about your happiest day and saddest day.

Saddest day had to be a funeral or something and my happiest days happen all the time. Every time I leave the studio after making 4-5 songs becomes my new happiest day.

.

Tell us how you will spend a million dollars.

I’d spend a million dollars on advancing mine and my teams’ careers to flip it into 2 million and then from there 4. Along with sending money to the family and folks of course.
