Tell us your real names, country of birth, date of birth and childhood experience.

LPA is made up of Thomas Trueman, Tom Bradshaw and Charlotte Jones. The T’s are 23 and Charlotte is 22 and we are all from the UK. Thomas and Charlotte grew up in the countryside, whilst Tom is from Southampton! We’d like to say we all grew up on a farm as Laminated Pet Animals.

Tell us about your music career, band name, musical background, experience and skills.

Fun fact – the band name is a palindrome, so it’s the same backwards 😉 Our music career so far has been really fun. We are extremely dedicated to being DIY. We have just played our first European shows supporting KARI! We have plans to release our EP next year on our own record label. We’ve been lucky enough to support some of our favourite electronic musicians such as Gold Panda, Emancipator and Slow Magic! We all have very different musical backgrounds and tastes, however originally we do all come from a classical background!

.

.

.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music video and the song.

I guess you could say our genre is ‘Electronica’. But that is very broad. We try not to think of genres whilst composing, as it puts you in a box. In some ways genre can be good, if for example you want to make Techno music, it’s good to follow Techno staples. However originality often comes from mixes genre’s or naivety to them! The concept of ‘Solace’ is to capture a feeling of longing for content. For us at least, it sounds very melancholic.

.

.

.

Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a musician and the ups and downs you have faced in the music business.

Well, we’re still a relatively new band, but we have friends that are signed to fairly big labels, which is great. But we really believe in releasing good music ourselves and growing organically. The highs definitely come from playing shows and seeing the reactions to our songs. ‘Solace’ means a lot to us and our fans. The down can come from the mental pressures of self-doubt and stress. The music industry is very cut throat!

.

.

.

Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director, how the song was recorded and how the music video was shot.

Well, we have a secret fourth member of the band, our manager Adam. We would be nowhere without him haha! The song was recorded entirely in our bedroom! We use Ableton and Logic to record, mix and master!

.

.

.

Tell us how long you have been in the music industry, your experience and your future goal.

I guess you could say we’ve been in the industry for 2 years now. It’s definitely very tough, however the reward of releasing your own music and playing your own shows is worth it! Our future goal is to set up our own record label.

.

.

.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.

We all work slightly differently, however we all draw upon life experiences. The most common thread in our writing is how we use sound. Melodies and lyrics and come last, the sounds and samples of the track always come first. They capture the mood of the track.

.

.

.

Tell us the secret behind making a hit song.

We really couldn’t tell you that because we don’t make ‘hit’ songs haha. In fact, we’re quite against writing bangers. If we tried, the result would be terrible haha!

.

.

.

Tell us the message you will like to pass to your fans out there.

We love all you. We couldn’t do it without you and we hope you find some meaning in our tracks.

.

.

.

Tell the kind of advice you will give to an upcoming artist.

We’re probably not in a position to give any super wise advice, but we really believe in finding your own sound. Do it for yourself and no one else.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have obtained.

We get a lot of work from our remixes! We just got off tour supporting KARI in Poland which was amazing. We also remixed Magic Man for Sony. We plan to tour next year in the UK to support our EP 🙂

.

.

List Radio or TV Stations that are airing your songs and blogs that have featured you as well and send message to them via this platform.

Big shout out to Alan Raw at BBC Introducing West Yorkshire. He’s had our backs since day one 😉

.

.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

We always start with the sounds. We work mostly with samples. These can come from anywhere! iPhone recordings, Youtube samples, old records. We rarely use soft synths – mainly because samples always have a character and story to tell! We create the entire structure, and then that dictates the melody and lyrics! Our ‘Studio’ is the spare room in Thomas and Tom’s house!

.

.

.

Name five biggest artists that you like.

Gold Panda, Tycho, Bonobo, The Japanese House and our friends KRRUM.

.

.

.

Name the artists you have collaborated with before in your songs or artists you are willing to collaborate with in the future if you have the chance to do so.

We have collaborated with KARI on her third album, ‘I Am Fine’. We’d love to collaborate with Gold Panda. Or maybe Charlie Simpson. He’s a legend.

.

.

Tell us about your happiest day and saddest day.

Happiest day – The day Charlotte joined the band.

Saddest day – When we can’t write music haha.

.

.

.

Tell us how you will spend a million dollars.

We’d probably travel the world and then buy a studio in the middle of nowhere. Then donate the rest to various charities and most importantly towards planting trees. Yes, we’d plant loads of trees because trees are very important!
