Tell us about your music career, band name, musical background, experience and skills.

Was signed for 3yrs to a now defunct indie record label in Los Angeles called The Fiction Label, that band was titled “HUNTER”, we got radio airplay in Los Angeles on KROQ and on KISS FM who played “Anxious” during their midnight indie artist spotlight. I wrote the rhythm tracks and all lyrics. I’m a registered member of ASCAP as artist and publisher. My music style has always circled around Rock & Funk although my music heroes have varied from Yes, Peter Gabriel, David Bowie, Rick James, Prince, Glenn Hughes, Billy Idol to Jeff Beck.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music video and the song.

The only video I have due to finances, is a song titled “Times in Life” on YouTube which has gained over 54K views on a do it yourself budget. “Times in Life” by Sonny Hunter is a classic rock anthem with a Progressive Rock feel, celebrating those who have and are battling cancer. Despite its heavy topic, the mood here is full of positive energy, pulls listeners emotions and brings a spark of rebellion and this song, has a purpose. “Times in Life” isn’t expecting to be a “Hit” yet it truly embraces the global culture experiencing this medical challenge. “Times in Life is definitely a fitting track for many ‘music against cancer’ compilations. Yet it’s enjoyed during live performances, especially when the audience sings the chorus with me.

Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a musician and the ups and downs you have faced in the music business.

Long story made short, Sonny Hunter is a Solo Artist, Lead Singer, Lyricist/ Songwriter, Rhythm Guitarist from Houston Texas/USA. This journey covers Classic Rock, Progressive Rock to Pop Jazz songs. Once the record label went bankrupt in 1983, it almost destroyed my passion and I left Los Angeles, went into the Navy for 6yrs, traveled the world, found a career in technology recruiting but I was missing something and that was my creation of music and performing so through networking with friends, I was introduced to a producer who brought in studio musicians and I selected 3 songs from the 9 EP songs that was never recorded on The Fiction Label, and I have gotten radio support internationally with indie radio, have gotten magazine write ups on Music Connection Up and Coming Artists 2016 and in City to Country 2016 magazine and that momentum has certainly given me the rejuvenation that I needed.

Since I took a sabbatical from this crazy industry, I spent most of my young adult years performing and making the LA club circuit, so I have over 15yrs experience as a professional musician. My goal is to secure a music sync contract on any of the 3 songs I have had produced and/or to find a supporter that will allow me to find a different producer to re-do ALL songs but with emphasis on my song “Times in Life” which touches people around the world, rocking cancer to disappear.

.

.

.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.

Had an instructor that told me to write songs/lyrics that touch people around the world and that I have done with “Anxious” and Times in Life”. Seeing and hearing people dance to and sing my chorus, is extremely humbling.

Tell us about your happiest day and saddest day.

Happiest was the first time my song was played on a major radio station in Los Angeles (KROQ) and kept my dad up till midnight so he could hear it. The saddest day was when my Dad passed in 2011 from prostate cancer.

.

.

Tell us how you will spend a million dollars.

Lol, well I would use it to get out of debt, then use a portion of it to re-record my songs and hire known producers and have it distributed worldwide, use funds to tour and hire a strong PR firm and attract reputable management, and buy a 4 bedroom cabin for myself.
