Tell us about your music career, your band name, musical background, experience and skills.

Music has always been a big part of our lives and we are very passionate about it. Before we even started playing music we could sit down for hours just analyzing specific songs. Back in 2004 we decided to pick up instruments and it actually felt like a pretty easy transition. Our minds were set on becoming musicians so that’s exactly what we became! A few years have passed since then and we have learned a lot. At this point we feel very confident about ourselves and we are constantly trying to challenge ourselves with new crazy ideas. Music is so much more than just music for us, it’s our lives and we’re nothing without it.

The story behind our band name is very simple, but maybe a bit boring. The truth is, we just came up with it one day and we loved the “sound” of it. We also believe that it describes our musical sound in a good way.

.

.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music video and the song.

Recently we decided to name our own genre “Lo-Fi HiFi”. We believe that our music doesn’t fit in any other category, so what better way than creating a new one? During the recording of our upcoming album “Magical Tragical” we talked about the sound of the record, how it would sound dirty, rough, well performed and well produced. That said when you listen to our music it sounds Lo-Fi in a Hi-Fi way.

“Something Sane” is a song about challenging ourselves and not staying in our comfort-zone. We learn so much about ourselves when we try something new; we want to encourage people to do so.

The music video is an extension of the song, meaning. Many people unfortunately wear some sort of “mask”; we want everyone to feel comfortable in themselves. There’s no need to fit in and that’s the beauty of it. In our video a girl (Amila Sakic) goes from being very happy to extremely sad and then she brings out a small satisfied smile in the end. The thought behind this is… Was she really sad? What did she really feel and why? Who is she behind her mask?

Many of us are so easily fooled these days, and we want people to “dig deeper” before reaching any false conclusions.

Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a musician and the ups and downs you have faced in the music business.

We have always done our own music, by doing so we have also learned a lot and developed something we are really proud of. Along the way we have become more efficient and more disciplined, nowadays we can for example handle a lot more instruments which makes it easier for us to make music. We have also learned that the most correct ways of doing things is not always the best ones. We believe that music is so much more than just sound. The most important thing about art is the emotions it contains.

That is a realization we believe is an “up”.

The music business is very difficult and it’s very hard to mention specific moments in our career. What we can say is that you should always look forward. Don’t let anything or anyone bring you down. People have different opinions and once again that’s the beauty of it. Keep working keep getting strong and someday someone will recognize you for your great work and passion.

Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director, how the song was recorded and how the music video was shot.

We are not a big crew, but a handful of carefully selected people. Our “family” are the most dedicated and hardworking people we’ve ever met and we love every single one of them. We believe that it’s not about how talented you are or how much money you spend on gear. It’s all about how much time and effort you are willing to sacrifice to get to that place in your life where you feel proud to be you.

With that said, this is our lovely crew members:

Anders Lagerfors is our producer and maybe the kindest person that we know. We have worked with him on various occasions and when he mentioned that it would be fun to produce us, we started writing new material immediately. We have always loved to work with Anders and we felt so fortunate when he said that he wanted to produce us. One year later and 14 songs later we decided to make things happen. Anders has a great ear for music and a very creative mind. He has worked with many great artist and also been touring as musician for many years. We feel so honored and lucky to be working with him.

Petter Björnlund, our video director, has a burning passion for creating art. The first time we met was many years ago. At that time Petter had a band and we were playing the same festival. During the festival we actually slept in the same room and got to know each other pretty fast. As you can imagine. A few years went by and we kept in touch, after a while he mentioned that he had started a media business (Snowbox Studios) and wondered if we would be interested in recording a music video. When we started “The Perfect Mess” we had big plans from the start, so it didn’t take long before we contacted Petter with different ideas. Petter is a nuklear idea bomb and we always end up with new creative creations on set.

Rickard Olausson, our photographer, is the newest member of our “crew”. His way of seeing beauty in small details immediately got our attention. We decided to contact him right away and start the process of working together. Rickard runs his own business (skvader media) and is always a big asset for us. He’s a person we love to work with and we hope to do that for the rest of our career.

Tell us how long you have been in the music industry, your experience and your future goal.

It’s hard for us to define “the music industry” because we don’t feel that we have been in it like most musicians probably have. We just do our thing and let things happen. What we can say is that our goal since we started with music 2004 was to travel around the world touring. In the latest years we have also realised that we really want to inspire people, let them know that everything is possible if you just decide that it is. Never give up and your dreams will become reality!

.

.

.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.

We believe it’s the passion for what we do. It’s not only music; it’s a way of life. Something we dream about every day and something that has changed us as human beings. We love music and it’s an honor to be surrounded by it.

.

.

.

Tell us the secret behind making a hit song.

There’s is no secret. There is only one thing you have to do… Touch people in their hearts. You have to make them recognize what you are and what you believe in. It could be a happy feeling a sad feeling or any kind emotion. Just make people understand what you are saying in the most honest way you can.

.

.

.

Tell us the message you will like to pass to your fans out there.

Believe in yourself and challenge yourself every day. Don’t hesitate because life is full of surprises, experience them and don’t miss them! Go out and search for your dream and don’t expect it coming for you.

Fail over and over again, that’s the only way to learn!

.

.

.

Tell the kind of advice you will give to an upcoming artist.

The only advice we can give is to keep up the work! Nothing comes easily and only you’ll decide if your dream will become true. No one else. Don’t give up, work harder and harder every day, it’s a 24/7 job and there is no such thing as an easy way to success.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have obtained.

With “The Perfect Mess” we have achieved many things, released one EP and now we have our upcoming album “Magical Tragical” on its way. Never before have we put so much effort in what we do, music videos, album covers, tours etc. For example, in 2018 we’re creating a short film with our own music as a soundtrack. It’s a lot of hard work but it’s a challenge that we can’t resist. We want to prove to others and ourselves that everything is possible as long as you put your mind to it. We also believe that you have to stay creative and challenge yourself in any way possible. It’s how we learn and how we become better at what we do.

.

.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

The way we write music varies from time to time. We always try to describe a feeling or at least make the songs have some sort of emotion to it. If a song doesn’t “speak” to us from the beginning we’ll move on to the next one. The composing part usually starts with a synth, drum or guitar idea. When that part is done we start adding things, for example, if we have a great synth line we try to come up with the best drum groove for that synth line. Later we add bass, guitars, vocal melodies, etc. and try to figure out where the track is headed. Lyrics on the other hand is something that we usually add when all of the instrumentation is done.

For us lyrics is the most important part of a song and that’s also why it takes us the longest to create. We are very “picky” with lyrics and every small detail is of great value to us. Lyrics is poetry and it shouldn’t only be beautiful to listen to it should also be beautiful to read.

When we reach the recording process everything is well prepared and we just go in and do our thing.  Recording is easy if everything is well enough prepared, it’s all about having fun and spending time with the people you love.

To be truly honest here, writing a song for us is not a walk in the park. We were not born with some supernatural music skills, writing a song can almost get us to the point of depression. I don’t know how many times we have left a session and wondered “Is it worth it, what’s the point”. This can go on for days, but in the end when the song is finished. There is nothing in the whole universe that feels so satisfying and rewarding.

In this constellation we haven’t really collaborated with anyone yet.  The truth is that we’re currently planning collaboration on our upcoming album (Magical Tragical) but for now it’s a secret. We have some people that we would love to work with. Some of them are local friends and some of them are international stars.

Tell us about your happiest day and saddest day.

Our happiest days are creative days, when you not only feel like we’ve grown as human being but also faced our fears. It’s a great feeling when you challenge yourself and then conquer your obstacles. Our saddest days on the other hand are a bit harder to describe. Sometimes you can get stuck in old routines. That said I believe our saddest days are when we feel like we don’t evolve. Sometimes we have a great vision of what we want but it can be hard to reach. We have decided to accept every challenge but some days it’s just more difficult than others.

Tell us how you will spend a million dollars.

We would spend a million dollars the same way we would spend thousand dollars. On something worth spending it on!
