Tell us your real names, country of birth, date of birth and childhood experience.

My name is Jazz (short for Jasmine) and I’m half Iranian, half British. I moved around quite a lot whilst I was growing up! I was born in Manchester, UK, moved to the countryside and now I’m back to the city life and loving living in London.

Tell us about your music career, artist name, musical background, experience and skills.

I’ve been singing ever since I can remember really, but I started to get really into songwriting when my Grandma taught me how to play piano. From there I started performing my own songs in my School Concert and absolutely loved the feeling of being on stage! For a long time I’ve been writing songs for other artists, which has really helped me discover the type of music that really inspires me and that I want to create. My artist name is Jazz Mino and I’ve just released my new single, “Crush” and Spotify have been championing it, which I’m thrilled about. J

.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music and current single.

I would say that my genre is very much Pop, and I’ve been inspired by artists such as Sigala, Sam Feldt, Martin Jensen etc. At the moment I’m doing a colour campaign, putting out a series of singles which promote equality, diversity and the importance of self-care. Every time I’m about to release a new single, I change colour. My latest release, “Crush” is the second single in the series and my hair, clothes and socials are currently orange!

Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a musician and the ups and downs you have faced in the music business.

My main struggle throughout my journey as an artist is my battle with anxiety. For a really long time, I just had this constant feeling of suffocating dread, and not only did it affect my ability to perform, it affected all aspects of my life. After a few years I finally reached out to my family, and with their support and a lot of hard work, I now feel in a much better place. The reason I was actually inspired to release my latest single, “Crush” was because it’s all about having fun in the moment and not over analyzing things; this is something I’ve been able to achieve since overcoming anxiety.

Every time I sing “Crush”, it just reminds me of the journey I’ve come on to feel the way I do now. I’m so much happier and confident within myself; sometimes I still get anxious but most of the time I’m able to just truly embrace every day rather than worrying too much about what the future holds.

.

.

.

Tell us about other members in your team, music producer, crew, and how the song was recorded.

I was first inspired to cover “Crush” (by Jennifer Paige) when I really sat down and listened to the lyrics. It really related to where I am now, so I started to create my own interpretation of the lyrics and melody. I then recorded the track with my amazing team over at Soho Studios, London. We did it over a weekend and just had so much fun. There’s nothing I love more than walking out of the studio at the end of a long day, knowing that you’ve got a banger coming out.

.

.

.

Tell us how long you have been in the music industry, your experience and your future goal.

I’ve been in the music industry for about 10 years now, writing behind the scenes and experimenting with my own style. I finally feel over the past 6 months like I’ve truly found myself as an artist and I couldn’t be more proud of what I’m doing at the moment. As for future goals, one of my absolute dreams would be to feature on one of Sigala’s singles. He’s inspired me so much and I just love his uplifting, euphoric energy on every track he puts out!

.

.

.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.

My writing inspirations nearly always come from personal experiences, or topics that I feel strongly about. In terms of actually sitting down and writing, it really varies. I have lots of ‘songwriting days’ where I write nothing that I’m happy with, and then at like 3am when I’m trying to sleep, the catchiest hook will invade my brain and I’ll have to head to my studio and get it down haha.

.

.

.

Tell us the secret behind making a hit song.

For me, it’s to write from the heart, but when I’m writing for other artists it can sometimes be more challenging. I really try to get into their mindset of where they are in their life, how they’re feeling and what they’re trying to communicate to their listeners. Then I start playing around with some pop/dance chords progressions and I don’t stop until I’ve got an infectious hook!

.

.

.

Tell us the message you will like to pass to your fans out there.

The message I want to pass to my fans is what my colour campaign is all about; championing equality, diversity and self-care. I strongly believe that we all need to learn to love ourselves more and look after ourselves and others better. No matter where you’re from, how much money you have or what you look like; we are all equal and deserve love and respect. I try to have a positive outlook on life and treat everyone with kindness, from being there for my family/friends, to smiling at a stranger. Sometimes you can completely turn somebody’s day around with just a small, kind gesture, and I’d love to see more of this, especially around London.

.

.

.

Tell the kind of advice you will give to an upcoming artist.

The advice I’d always give to an upcoming artist, is to stay true to who you are and although it’s tempting, don’t rush your art. It sometimes takes a long time to get everything in place but when you finally do, it’s so rewarding.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have obtained.

To be honest, I’m a fairly new artist in terms of introducing myself to the market. It took me a while to really understand what I wanted from my career and the music I wanted to make. I’ve just started a UK Schools Tour; I did my first school today and had such an amazing time! During the tour I’m also spreading the message of self-care, and that your mental health is just as important as your physical health. I feel really happy to be able to be doing what I love and putting out positive vibes to a younger generation.

List Radio or TV Stations that are airing your songs and blogs that have featured you as well and send message to them via this platform.

Ah there’s so many, I’ve received so much support for “Crush” and I just feel very grateful, and honored that people are enjoying it enough to want to share it with their social circles. I’m particularly pleased that Spotify are championing it and have added it to their Chilled Pop Hits official playlist, as Spotify is where I listen to my music and get my inspiration from. J

.

.

.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

My lyrics always come from my personal experiences or subjects I feel strongly about. My writing technique really varies, a lot of the time I’ll have a really clear idea of exactly how I want my song to sound and go in the studio with it all prepared. Other times, I’ll have a general direction, and then myself and my producer will bounce ideas around. For recording vocals, I see the studio as a delicate version of singing live. You still need just as much emotion and passion, and sometimes it can be hard to capture this on a record.

.

.

Name five biggest artists that you like.

At the moment, my top five have to be Sigala, Anne Marie, Sam Feldt, Oliver Nelson and Raye.

.

.

Name the artists you have collaborated with before in your songs or artists you are willing to collaborate with in the future if you have the chance to do so.

I’ve currently just done collaboration with one of my favourite artists, Oliver Nelson! He heard my latest track “Crush”, and has done an amazing remix which is out on Spotify, Apple Music etc Friday 1st December. It’s an absolute banger and I can’t wait to share it with the world!

Tell us about your happiest day and saddest day.

Ah it’s pretty hard to pick just one happy day! I have so many lovely memories, from the times where I just sit with my sister and laugh so hard that we cry, to my manager calling me to tell me Spotify are loving my new single!

My saddest days for sure were around the time when my Gran passed away. She was without a doubt, the kindest, most caring and loving person I’ve ever been lucky enough to have in my life. She also taught me how to read music so without her; I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Tell us how you will spend a million dollars.

I would spend it traveling around the world with my closest friends and my family. And hopefully living a very long and happy life haha.
