Tell us your real names, country of birth, date of birth and childhood experience.

I am Zerah and was born in Mexico on February, 2001. I had a great childhood, my family and I have always been super close and my parents have always supported me with my music career. I have loved music since I was too young to remember.

Tell us about your music career, band name, musical background, experience and skills.

I started taking vocal lessons when I was 7 years old. I studied classical and musical theater singing style. I was enrolled in a musical theater school where I participated in shows such as Wicked, Phantom of the Opera, Grease, Annie, etc. I also have had dance lessons of many different styles like tap, jazz, hip hop, ballet, and Irish dance. I started learning how to play piano 2 years ago. I started writing my own songs when I was 12. I went to the IPop conversion in LA where I received 12 callbacks and that’s where I met my amazing producers from Indasoul Entertainment and recorded two songs and my music video. My first single “Higher” was released a month ago.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music video and the song.

I like to describe my genre of music as pop with a little bit of Latina spice. For the song “Higher” I wanted the song to inspire people. It is an upbeat and uplifting song that talks about enjoying life, taking risks and going after what you want. The music video concept was to show how contagious music is and how it can really change someone’s day for the better. We wanted to show how my song helped people who were having a bad day.

Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a musician and the ups and downs you have faced in the music business.

I am the type of artist that loves when a song makes you feel something. I am in love with music and with what music can do. I think that music is one of the few things in this world that can bring millions of people together and that is the way I put everything that I have into my work.

There was a time when my parents told me that I wouldn’t be able to be a singer because of the risks of doing it in Mexico. In Mexico, the only way to become successful in the entertainment business is if you pay up the powerful people who control the business. It doesn’t matter how talented you are, you won’t get anywhere if you don’t sacrifice things like your integrity. This is why my parents decided to move to Vancouver, where I could have so many more opportunities to be who I want to be and I could do it in a clean and deserving way.

.

Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director, how the song was recorded and how the music video was shot.

My amazing producers are Marc Williams and Christopher Ray from Indasoul Entertainment. They really supported me throughout this whole process and understood my vision and my goals. They wrote the song “Higher” based on what I wanted the audience to feel and get when they listened to my song. It was recorded in LA in July. The music video was also directed by Marc Williams and was shot in Malibu, Venice Beach and Hollywood Blvd. Shooting the video was super fun and the dancers and actors who were in it were incredible.

.

.

Tell us how long you have been in the music industry, your experience and your future goal.

Even though I have loved music my whole life and I have always known that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life since I was 3 years old, my official time in the industry started at the start of 2017 when I started working on this project. So far it has been amazing and I have gotten a good response to my song. I did an interview for a radio station and it got 10,000 views in 3 days. That was a big accomplishment for me. My music video already has around 15,000 views in total. (Facebook +Youtube). My goal is to become a successful recording artist and to be able to travel all around the globe with my music.

.

.

.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.

I believe that you can find inspiration anywhere. Everything that I feel I write about. I compose my own music because I think that that is the only way to accurately share what your feelings and what the song truly means.

I don’t really need inspiration to sing, I feel that is just part of who I am. I sing everywhere and all the time, sometimes without realizing it. I just love how it feels to express myself in a way that I am not talking, because I tend to be very bad at talking about my feelings, but when I sing everything comes out so easily and so clearly it makes it easier for me to express myself.

.

.

.

Tell us the secret behind making a hit song.

I think that the secret behind making a great song is a lot of work and a lot of heart. You have to know what you want to express and what you want someone that hears it to feel. Also, just have fun with it, because believe it or not, that reflects on the final product.

.

.

.

Tell us the message you will like to pass to your fans out there.

First of all, a GIANT thank you for supporting me. I love you all so much and I can’t wait to share more music with you. I wouldn’t be where I am without all of you.

.

.

.

Tell the kind of advice you will give to an upcoming artist.

Never give up on your dream and don’t listen to the people who tell you that you can’t. Work 3 times as hard as anybody else would. Put your heart and soul into your art.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have obtained.

My song “Higher” has been doing really well in the first month, I haven’t gotten any negative feedback so far. There will be a second song coming out in the close future so be ready! I have put a lot of work into this project and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me. Hopefully soon we could be looking at a whole album.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

I write my lyrics based on what I’m feeling in the moment. Sometimes they’re about other people’s experiences and sometimes they’re about mine. Sometimes I can write and compose a whole song in half an hour and sometimes it can take two months to finish one. In the recording studio I try to make it a relaxed and fun environment. I work hard and try to put a lot of feeling so that it reflects in the final product.

Tell us about your happiest day and saddest day.

My happiest day was my first day in the recording studio in LA. It was the first time that I realized that my dream was finally coming true and I enjoyed every single second of it. I felt so grateful, excited and happy and filled with positive energy. I didn’t think I ever stopped smiling that day.

My saddest day was when my grandfather died about a year and a half ago; it was very painful.

Tell us how you will spend a million dollars.

If I had a million dollars I would use it to help all my family to move Vancouver. My grandma, my aunts and uncles, my cousins (I have a VERY big family). I would bring them all to a safe place where they can live without being worried about safety.
