Chloe Foy

Tell us your real names, country of birth, date of birth and childhood experience.
Chloe Constance Foy, UK, 20th August.
Childhood experience – days spent running around in the countryside, making up a whole new world for myself. It was a pretty happy time.

Tell us about your music career, band name, musical background, experience and skills.
I’ve done music for very nearly my whole life. Starting with cello lessons and then choirs and going on to study it at university. I started writing songs in my teens when my life was taking a difficult direction and it started as a way of figuring those things out. My parents weren’t musical but they wanted me to have the chance to be…and here I am.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music video and the song.
My genre could be described as folk or just singer/songwriter as this song in particular feels quite pop. I just like a good tune. The concept of the song is that sometimes things get really difficult in life but then you find a glimmer of hope in it all and it starts to feel OK again. The music video tries to reflect this by taking a metaphorical journey and turning it into a literal one.

Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director, how the song was recorded and how the music video was shot.
It’s just little old me. Sometimes I work with a band of very talented musicians which I love because they make my songs come alive! The song was recorded a while ago now in a studio with some good friends, we did it in quite a short time period. It was recorded before all the other songs on the EP and we left it to settle for a bit. It feels quite different to the other tracks but I had to have it in there as I love the song.

.

Tell us how long you have been in the music industry, your experience and your future goal.
I see my time in the music industry starting in 2014 when I released my first EP. Now and in the future I just want to keep releasing more music and also playing more shows. I’ve never played in Europe and would love to do that.

.

.

.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.
Life! And its many ups and downs. I tend to write to deal with difficult periods in life and so I often joke that my songs are quite sad. I’m trying to work on the happy bit.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.
I think about things that have been going around in my head lately and try and turn them into a song. Then I might have a little melody to go with it – if not I just sit with my guitar and play around. I just sing the way it comes to me – it’s pretty natural and I try not to force it. It’s important to sing well though, as you don’t want to damage anything!

I haven’t collaborated with anyone yet! But would love the chance to sing with Sam Brookes as he has one of the best voices out there.

Tell us about your happiest day and saddest day.
There’s a lot of happy days but most recently when my EP launched and my mum and all my friends turned up to the show. I felt very loved.
My saddest day was when my dad died 10 years ago. It still provides me with song inspiration to this day.

Tell us how you will spend a million dollars.
On my own record label, some really nice kit, a writing retreat that is also a venue and recording studio… you get the idea.
