Tell us about your music career, band name, musical background, experience and skills.

The project was founded by Arnaud Francelet by the end of 2016. After he started producing “Awake”  he contacted Calvin to collaborate. In march 2017 they went to Kazakhstan for two weeks to work on new songs. Back in Switzerland, Calvin invited Kevin to join the project as a third producer/writer. Shortly after that we decided to choose Julia as our main vocalist.

As Wise & Young, we can’t really say that we already have a career, as the project is very young. Independently we have a lot of experience.  Arnaud is a musician for over 30 years, he plays in Jazz Bands and he also played in Rock and Pop Bands. Calvin studied drums and piano. As DJ and producer he worked for several international Labels. Kevin toured as DJ across Europe and in places like Miami and Ibiza. He is a experienced producer and sound designer. Julia was in several school bands. After she graduated Julia went to a gospel class in the holidays (fall). In these years in school she realized how important music was.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music video and the song.

Burn” is a future bass song with a commercial touch. It was produced when Calvin and Arnaud were writing  songs in Kazakhstan. The idea behind the music video came from the lyrics and from the video director Elias Burkhalter. First we had a demo from the vocals and the concept was to catch the mood from that into the instrumental.

Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a musician and the ups and downs you have faced in the music business.

There is always a lot of ups and downs, which we also have experienced individually. We think the biggest down is when you work with people, that don’t take a project seriously. As musician you face such situations everywhere and it takes a lot of energy and motivation. Also a big down is, when people are trying to betray or scam you. So you have to be careful with who you are working. Sometimes you also have some downs when you like stuck in the song and you don’t know how to continue but it’s even greater if you solve the problem. You only become greater by facing things you haven’t done before so whenever you take a hurdle your one step closer to a next level.

But besides that there is also a lot of good days, and we would never want to change our life as musicians. Some of the biggest ups are when your song is featured on a blog or a radio station. And also great moments are when you get good a constructive feedback of people and the people are happy when they are listening to your music. Concerts can also be magical moments, when everything is right… the vibe, the location and the crowd.

Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director, how the song was recorded and how the music video was shot.

We work with Nordyn Jaggi, he is our Manager in Switzerland. He is a big part of our band as he is the first contact person and helps us maintain our social medias, e-mails and more. You really could say he is the fifth member. He drives to go further and reach for the stars.

Another member is Ben Mühlethaler. He is a Grammy nominated producer who gives us always important feedback. Also he co produces some of our songs and mixes them. Our first two Songs where mastered by him.

Last but not least there is Emee Grant from Austria, our Manager for international Bookings and Deals. He is taking care of us for all international affairs.

For the video of “Burn” we worked with Elias Burkhalter who wrote the script, filmed and edited the video.

The song was written in Kazakhstan in March 2017. Back in Switzerland we started working on the arrangement and the sounds. After endless nights there was still something missing. The song wasn’t a unity and we spent hours and hours to get to the final result. In a studio session with Ben, we decided to include acoustic instruments, which we started recording in the summer of 2017. The song “Burn” got mixed and mastered by Ben Mühlethaler.

Tell us how long you have been in the music industry, your experience and your future goal.

Arnaud has been in the industry for over 30 Years now, Ghislain for about 15 years, Kevin for 8 years and Julia since 1 year. Everybody grew up with music, some were more involved in to the industry and some less. It gives our band kind of an interesting mixture.

Mainly we want to express ourselves in our music and share this with people all over the World. For 2018 there is an album planned. And off course It would be amazing to have a world tour one day, but there is a lot of work ahead of us.

.

.

.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.

Inspiration is everywhere, you just have to recognize it. I feel inspired by listening to other musicians whether they or famous or not, that doesn’t matter. I really enjoy listening to cover songs and mashups, in that kind of way you can hear how they interpreted the song. I feel inspired by going on vacations, discover new places for example a beach or a silent place in the mountains. As a balance to the loud world I also enjoy silence, I feel inspired by the silence because you have so much space to fill.

It can be a new friendship, a beautiful view on a lake, or just listening to good music. Often we travel to another country, meet new people and get inspired by the mood there.

Tell us the secret behind making a hit song.

We think there is no secret in making a hit song. It’s important that you do, what you love and if you like to tell it to the world, you should.

Musically seen: keep it simple (especially the melody), everybody should be able to sing along. Ensure that everything is best quality possible: The samples, the recordings, the sound design, the mix and the master, everything has to be over the top. And besides that you have to be at the right place at the right time.  This points paired with good marketing can make a hit out your song.

.

.

.

Tell us the message you will like to pass to your fans out there.

It’s very important that people can make a connection to a song. A song should make you feel something; it should touch you. It can make you feel happy or it can make you feel like having a party because you enjoy it so much. But it can also be a sad song. Maybe it helps you what you’re going through and in this case, I’d already be happy. So basically we don’t have a message, we just want to connect with the people and make them happy with our music.

.

.

.

Tell the kind of advice you will give to an upcoming artist.

Be patient. It takes a lot more time than you think to write and produce a song. It also takes a lot of time to learn and to grow and that’s okay. There will be times where you produce a song in one night, but there will also be times where it takes several months but that shouldn’t bother you. Out of that never ever give up and try to get better everyday. Don’t do it for the fame or the money; do it for the passion.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have obtained.

We can’t answer the question, as there is no career, album, tour or award yet.

List Radio or TV Stations that are airing your songs and blogs that have featured you as well and send message to them via this platform.

The Swiss Radio Stations SRF3, Radio Swiss Pop, RTN, Radio Freiburg, Radio 4 TNG, are airing our songs. We wanted to thank them for the support and for having us in their playlists.

Also we wanted to thank all the blogs that are supporting till now an featuring our Songs.

.

.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

We have three studios where we produce and record music. One is just for recording and the other two are for producing. Every member works on their own, and every week or every two weeks we meet in the studio to discuss our ideas and to present what we composed or wrote. Most of the lyrics are written by Julia, some also by Arnaud. Out of the feedback of every member we continue the song until it’s almost finished. For the details we work with Ben Mühlethaler and finish it together as a band.

Tell us how you will spend a million dollars.

Arnaud: Reinvest in Wise & Young.

Calvin: I would spend it on a new studio and equipment.

Kevin: I would spend tons on new Studio Gear. But before that I would go on holidays to take some time off and get inspired.

Julia: I would go on amazing vacations with my mommy, she’s the most important person in my life. There would be no me if she wouldn’t have been there for me in many many times.

Then I would go on vacations with my best friend. I’m more the person which enjoys loving the moment.
