Tell us about the story behind your song.

The concept behind the song came from a chorus that I had a long time ago. “My ex was a step to my next// Never seem to find a keeper with the ones that I select// They’re all something special so I learn not regret// Just music, ring finger bling not yet//… I initially titled this song ‘ring finger bling’ which means that I wanted to choose music over marriage or commitment at the time. However, I met Chris Lyon here in Korea and I let him pen his own chorus and that is how the song received the title “Blinded”.

The first the verse of the song briefly talks about experience with an ex-girlfriend while also discussing multiple women in the same verse. The second verse focuses on the main girl (which is now the ex-girl). I’m basically praising her and telling her how bad I want her. However, at the end I was glad that we decided to break up because now is the best time of my life.

I contacted Alphonso Elm to do the animation. I sent him the lyrics to the song and basically told him I wanted 3 girls and I wanted them to have a certain look. As we dissected the lyrics more and more we were able to come up with a video that perfectly matched the concept I was going for.

Tell us the challenges you are facing as a musician.

The hardest part about music is just getting it to certain platforms. Although I’ve been able to perform in Korea, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Philippines, I am still trying to make a name for myself to become more recognized as a musician.

.

Tell us about the recording and production of the song.

The song was produced by Nard of ‘Nard and B’. I had my version of the song finished long before me and Chris Lyon recorded the track. I let Chris Lyon pen his own chorus and we recorded the song about one month after I sent him my verses. The animation was completely done by Alphonso ELm.

Tell us more about your music career, experience and future goal.

I have been rapping literally since elementary school but I started to really pursue music in 2009. My future goal is to release more music and be able to be a full time musician as opposed to balancing a job and music at the same time.

Tell the kind of advice you will give to an upcoming artist.

My advice is to put in as much work as possible, network, utililze your resources, maximize your potential, and be willing to accept the good and bad that come with what you are pursuing.

.

Elaborate on your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have obtained.

I’ve performed in Tokyo, Hong Kong, South Korea, Philippines, and my home country USA. I’ve been featured on BlameEbro from Hot97, Thisis50.com. popkillerPL (in Poland, Aipate, Salute Magazine, HiphopKR (in Korea), Gems and Secrets, UGHH blog, and more.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

I usually just write songs in my head. I have the entire song done and memorized in my head before I ever write it down. Sometimes I write it down and sometimes I don’t. If I have to write a verse on the spot then I use my pen. However, many times I write the song in my head and then later I write it down physically just in case I forget one day.

Tell us about your happiest day and saddest day.

My happiest day was the first time I got to perform in another country. Can’t really think of my saddest day.

Tell us how you will spend a million dollars.

If I had a million dollars I would just make sure I invest in the right things and save enough so that 1 million would make more money for me.
