Moriah Ruth

Tell us about yourself.

My name is Moriah Ruth. I’m seventeen and I live in Florida. I love everything to do with performing including dancing and acting. I also love to help injured animals.

.

Tell us about yourself as an artist.

I’ve been performing on stage since I was six. I grew up acting in local theatres and I sing at different events around Florida. I started playing the guitar when I was sixteen, and was encouraged to try to write songs. Since then I have been teaching myself the keyboard, which is what I used to write Before the Music.

.

Tell us the reason you decided to go into music.

Music has always been a part of my life because I grew up in local theatres. My favorite productions were always the musicals. When I was a teen, I started to get invitations to perform at local events. I discovered I loved singing on a stage as myself even more than just being a character in a play.

.

.

Tell us about the story behind your song.

I recently went to LA to compete in the World Championship of Performing Arts. There were people there from over fifty countries. I met so many amazing people and connected with them because of music. We formed some lifelong friendships. Which inspired me to write the song, “Before the Music”,  which is about how the power of music can bring people together.

.

Tell us about the recording and production of the song.

One of my friends has a small recording studio in his garage…he recorded it and mixed it for me.

Tell us your definition of a hit song.

I think as long as a song inspires others…whether it’s inspiring them to overcome difficulties, encourages them to be themselves and go for their dreams, or maybe just makes them feel happy–even if it’s just one person whose life is touched, that is my definition of a hit song!

.

I loved going to LA to represent Team USA in the competition! Not only did I get to perform in LA, but I also met amazing people from around the world!
