Julices Grant

Tell us your real names, country of birth, date of birth and childhood experience.

My name is Julices Grant, I come from Switzerland and I’ve started doing my solo project 1 year ago, after I broke a leg and got bored in the hospital. Dan Ramsay is a Swiss-Mauritian artist, who has been playing since he’s a kid and who is slowly getting out there.

.

.

.

Tell us about your music career, band name, musical background, experience and skills.

I’m a young Swiss producer. I use my background as a singer-songwriter and DJ to try and find the perfect mix between Pop and Electro.

.

.

.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music video and the song.

With my music, I want people to dance, cry or laugh. I’m always trying to express emotions and feelings, and I hope that those emotions will be received and perceived by the listener. “Maurice” was made about a trip to the Mauritian Island, and more generally about friendship. In the video, you can see two friends traveling and getting closer.

.

.

.

Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a musician and the ups and downs you have faced in the music business.

I’m self-produced, meaning I have to do everything. Recording, mixing, mastering, marketing etc. I have no agents, no labels, nothing. This is sometimes very frustrating as I almost spend more time doing promotion than actual music.

.

.

.

Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director, how the song was recorded and how the music video was shot.

Dan Ramsay is a great friend with a huge potential. We took the opportunity of recording a song when we decided to travel together. He sings in Creole-Mauritian in the song.

.

.

.

Tell us how long you have been in the music industry, your experience and your future goal.

I’ve been in the music industry for a bit more than a year, with my solo project. I know it’s very tough getting out there with my music but I’m trying!

.

.

.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.

Mostly adventures, experiences, people, feelings. My songs always have an underlying goal or reason. Tough break-up, new love etc. I’m always trying to tell a story.

.

.

.

Tell us the message you will like to pass to your fans out there.

My message to my fans would be: “Thank you so much for giving me a chance and listening to what I do!” I remember reading a comment on YouTube from a man, telling me he was dancing with his baby daughter to the song. Made my day and my year!

.

.

.

Tell the kind of advice you will give to an upcoming artist.

Do your music because you like to do it. Never stop.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have obtained.

I’m not releasing any album. I only release my song, one after the other. I feel it’s a good way to keep things fresh!

.

.

.

List Radio or TV Stations that are airing your songs and blogs that have featured you as well and send message to them via this platform.

Mostly Swiss radios and TVs. However, I also got featured in various international radios (Canada, France, Brazil, etc.). Blogs and Spotify channels picked some of my songs as well!

.

.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

I usually start with just my guitar, lyrics come sort of naturally. I do a first draft and then modify and fine tune everything. Once I have a song (structure, chords, lyrics), I start recording other instruments (drums, then bass, synths, and then FX and other details). I do everything in my home studio.

.

.

.

Name five biggest artists that you like.

Møme, Petit Biscuit, A R I Z O N A, Coldplay, Kygo.

.

.

.

Name the artists you have collaborated with before in your songs or artists you are willing to collaborate with in the future if you have the chance to do so.

I had the occasion to do featuring with other local artists (DJ ROD, Strinogia, R-Nestinho). The present song is a featuring with another artist I invited to collaborate.

Tell us about your happiest day and saddest day.

Happiest day was when a Swiss radio picked up one of my songs for the first time and aired it every day during 2 months. Incredible to know I was able to make it all the way up there on my own! Success! Saddest day was probably when someone I deeply cared about said no. What’s funny is that this deception made me write a song about it, and that’s the song that was picked up by the radio.

.

Tell us how you will spend a million dollars.

I would set up a real nice home studio and hire a sound engineer to help me produce better music. The rest on bitcoin.
