Tell us about yourself.
Jordan: My name is Jordan Hamilton. I am the cellist in Last Gasp Collective.

.

Tell us about yourself as an artist.
Jordan: I am a classically trained cellist that aims to expand the boundaries of what cello can play/sound like. I am personally interested in creating and playing music that inspires the pursuit of truth and bliss. Last Gasp allows me to collaborate and create positive vibes for people to listen and dance to.

.

Tell us about the genre of your music.
Jordan – The music of Last Gasp has best been explained as a Gumbo of sounds that borrows from Hip-Hop, Jazz, Soul, Gospel, and Rock. It is truly a part of the fusion of genres that we are witnessing in a lot of music nowadays.

.

Tell us about the story behind your song.
Jordan – I personally did not write or have a say in what the song sounded like or meant. However I deeply resonate with the concept and style of the song. I will let Jay and Xavier speak to what the intended, but I will explain what the song means to me. Living in the modern age present many challenges and opportunities simultaneously. For example, it is the age of the automobile that connects large distances and minimizes commuter time, yet we know that it is slowly having adverse effects on our environment. Living in a small town (Like Kalamazoo) has not been known to be the most beneficial to an 11 piece band trying to make music their career. However with the internet, modern recording technology and unique Kalamazoo resources we believe we can piece together an accommodating music career if we still dare to dream big. To me this song is an ode to making the best out of whatever situation you are in and not letting circumstances shape your dreams.

.

.

Tell us the challenges you are facing as a musician.
Jordan: I personally am finding challenges with managing the countless hats a musician has to wear in today’s age (Talent, manager, organizer, fundraiser, marketer, etc.). I love all the hats that make music happen. However, my passion and dedication to a project makes it hard for me to balance the equal use of all the hats.

.

.

.

Tell us more about your music career, experience and future goal.
Jordan: I aim to have a diverse and balance career that allows me to experience a wide range of culture and have resources to support the people closest to me. I want to make timeless music. Travel the world. Laugh a lot. Leave the world a better place when I leave.

.

.

.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.
Jordan: Sounds and experiences.

.

.

.

Tell us the secret behind making a hit song.
Jordan: Just like trying to find you keys. Don’t look for them. Lol. Don’t try to make a hit song.

.

.

.

Tell the kind of advice you will give to an upcoming artist.
Jordan: Find out what’s unique to you. Find out what you really want from life. Develop that into something that is unique to you through personal development. The surest way to set yourself up for failure is to compare and want what others have. I look forward to seeing who you are through your art!

.

.

.

Elaborate on your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have obtained.
Jordan: Many. Lol. But I do not wish to share.

.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.
Jordan: visualize an auditory, emotional, or conceptual experience and try to recreate it with whatever I have available.
