RAMOND

Tell us about yourself.

RAMOND is an artist from Denver, Colorado.

Upon graduating high school, Ramond took his talents and knowledge to Colorado State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in 2013. While school was his main priority, he still used all of his free time to perfect his craft which is very evident now.

Tell us about yourself as an artist.

RAMOND is an artist, producer and song-writer. He tributes artists such as Andre 3000, Tupac, Biggie, Jay Z, Ludacris, The Tempations and 90’s R&B as his inspiration for music.  He aims to make his music in 3D… Deep, Dope and Different.

.

.

Tell us about the genre of your music.

While a lot of my music falls under the Rap and R&B category, I have always been able to showcase my diversity by switching up the flow and style depending on the track and definitely exploring many different genres.

.

.

.

Tell us about the story behind your song.

Denver artist RAMOND takes the audience back in to the past with his video for “1991.”  This sitcom style video begins in a radio station set in the year 1991 in which a DJ is introducing the best music of this year.  The video then travels through multiple scenes and 90’s style outfits while RAMOND raps of his favorite beats from the year 1991, which is also the year he was born.

.

.

.

Tell us the challenges you are facing as a musician.

Staying consistent through doubt and when things just don’t pan out like you thought it would. And that part will happen. Everything in being an underground music is trial and error. Error is hard in the beginning. I read something that said upcoming artists get told “no” more times in one year than the average person does in a lifetime. And I would have to agree. I just found out you have to be willing to fail in order to be ready to succeed.

.

.

.

Tell us about the recording and production of the song.

After coming up with the idea for the song, I connected with my DJ, DJ Zenas, to gather my favorite songs and beats from 1991.  DJ Zenas did a live mix of the records that we chose and then I wrote the song in about a week. We took the record to Hahn Audio to record, mix and master and shot the video with Square Visions.

.

.

Tell us the names of blogs, radio or TV stations that have supported you so far.

Upcoming Hip-Hop, Ok-Tho, Westword, The Rooster, Pandora, Shade 45 and more.

.

.

.

Tell us more about your music career, experience and future goal.

My music career has had plenty of ups and downs and the overall goal and vision is consistently redeveloping. I would eventually like to be closer to being able to live on making music alone and creating a successful business behind it.

.

.

.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.

Life.  I’m constantly inspired and re-inspired by things happening in my life every day. I’m constantly learning and growing and it reflects in my music. That’s the beauty in making music. I can go back to older songs I did and not only hear my old music but hear a younger me. It’s a crazy feeling to actually hear your growth between old and new music. Not only as an artist, but as a person.

.

.

.

Tell us the secret behind making a hit song.

I think the secret behind making a great record is understanding your own sound, working with other artists and producers who do the same, and then creating something that a majority of people can relate to.

.

.

.

Tell the kind of advice you will give to an upcoming artist.

Focus on developing your craft before you start pushing your music. You can’t expect other people to invest their time and money into your music if you don’t do the same for yourself.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have obtained.

EP’s – Philosophy Class (2013), 20/20 Vision (2015)

Tours – Greek Party Tour – (2016 – Present)

Performed with – Bun B, Kirko Bangz, Problem, Los, Audio Push, Bobby Valentino and More.

.

.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

My process seems different every time. Usually, I’ll choose a beat that creates a specific feeling for me. Then I usually drive around Denver listening to it on repeat developing concepts and lyrics. This usually sparks my creativity because I can reminisce on old experiences while I write. Once the song is written in full, I take the song to the studio to record.

.

Tell us about your happiest day and saddest day.

My best day as an artist had to be when I co-headlined a show at the Bluebird Theatre. Being that this was the first venue that I have seen Big Krit live, it was a staple in my career to be on the other side of the stage this time.

My worst day started out as what I thought would be my best day. I was set to perform in front of 500 people at a Battle Tournament. I was also a judge for this tournament. During the championship battle, the other judges including myself picked the winner, which was not the crowd favorite to win.  Right after the decision was announced they called me up to perform. I had to perform while 200 booed the decision and walked out on my performance. That was tough.

Tell us how you will spend a million dollars.

If I obtain a million I want to invest into my own company to be able to employ multiple while inspiring them to build their own business as well. I also would make sure my immediate family members are taken care of and spend a lot of time traveling.
