Tell us your real names, country of birth, date of birth and childhood experience.

Kimberley Spurrier

England

21st May 1992

Entertaining came naturally to me; I enjoy performing in front of anyone I could! At the age of 9 I won a talent competition at one of the Haven camps and won my family a holiday back to the Haven camp! Also as a child I performed in a choir at The Royal Albert Hall and in a show singing and dancing a variation of songs at Her Majesty’s Theatre in my early teens.

Tell us about your music career, your band name, musical background, experience and skills.

Music was a hobby of mine until the beginning of 2017 when I set myself a mission to audition for everything I could, to not necessarily to win competitions but to gain feedback to progress as an artist, and to hopefully one day be self-employed doing the thing I absolutely love! I auditioned for RSArtist in January 2017 who then offered to help me produce 2 singles. This is something I had never done before, I would sing covers left, right and centre but never had written my own lyrics or music before. As a Dyslexic I am proud to say I wrote the lyrics for ‘Dancing in the rain’ and what an achievement that was in itself! Working with producer Chris from RSArtist, we built the song ‘Dancing in the rain’ from scratch. End of June 2017 I started gigging across Hertfordshire and have performed at least 27 gigs and with many more to come! I am currently working with a guitarist in my spare time to compose and produce more originals.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music video and the song.

As an artist I want to connect with the audience either to be there for them through tough times or for them to relate to the songs I write. I hope to inspire them to go after their dreams and to believe anything can happen, and that life is what you make it. I would like to be a good role model and to open the audience’s eyes to opportunity! I would like to describe my genre as Pop, Jazz and Acoustic. My single “Dancing in the Rain” shows more of  my Pop side as an artist.

Tell us everything that we need to know about you as a musician and the ups and downs you have faced in the music business.

In regards to the music business this song is my starting point, I believe for a debut single what an achievement already, the song is catchy and hopefully the audience will enjoy the song and the message it puts across. I do not fear any kind of feedback as we all have to start somewhere no one walked into the gym fit, they had to start somewhere. I feel this is a good start of great things to come. It may not be everyone’s type of songs but it might connect with someone out there! What will be, will be. But I will never give up creating music regardless of how far ‘Dancing in the rain’ will go, but I am proud of my first creation as it has opened my eyes to opportunity, so I hope it will help others!

Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director, how the song was recorded and how the music video was shot.

I started working with a producer called Chris from RSArtist back in January 2017 where I informed him of the kind of message I wanted this song to put across. I wrote the lyrics and we worked together building the song from scratch. It was originally meant to be a slow song but he felt it suited more of an upbeat vibe. He gave me the boost of confidence I needed by just believing in me and giving the feedback to progress as an artist. Now by the end of the year I am a self-employed entertainer, gigging around Hertfordshire Pop and Jazz Covers and working for a company called DNA kids who provides children parties!

Tell us how long you have been in the music industry, your experience and your future goal.

I have only been in the music industry since I started gigging in June 2017; so far I have progressed. I am hoping to next year release an EP with a guitarist I have been working with since August 2017 Ashley Fields and to keep progressing as an artist and continue doing what I love! I hope to also be able to help others achieve their goals in music!

Tell us about your happiest day and saddest day.

My happiest day was the day my twin got married in March 2017. My saddest day is a hard one because I tend not to dwell on sad times but to learn from them and always look on the bright side of things.
