Tell us about yourself.

My name is Billy Palmtrees, I am a New York inspired artist looking to make an impact on the music industry.

.

.

.

Tell us about yourself as an artist.

What best describes me as an artist is as an “Artist” I love art in any shape or form whether it’s music, fashion or painting I try to involve that in my music as well make the best possible sound.

.

.

.

Tell us about the challenges you are facing as a musician.

The biggest challenges would be getting out there and staying true. There’s a lot of trash being worshiped over royalty rap that’s the generation we live now. No one cares anymore about talent and it bothers me because I make the best music I feel and at the end of the day a rapper saying absolutely nothing will get the credit instead of a rapper like me.

.

.

.

Tell us about the story behind your song.

The story behind the song basically came from one of my idols Asap Rocky I just wanted something I can put that swag on.

.

.

.

Tell us about the recording and production of the song.

The recording process and production was honestly a blessing by my new found homie/manager Richard Parrott, RP4 is what I call him but non the less he went all out making sure he found the best sound that fits the style of my sound and recording it was like breeze I knew what I wanted to say as soon as I heard the beat and it took me like 2minutes to write the hook.

.

.

.

Tell us more about your music career, experience and future goals.

My experience with music has been a great one I evolved as an artist from when I first started, still a student learning how to get better and as far as the future goes I plan to sign or make some noise this year.

.

.

.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.

Inspiration comes to me so very often whether it’s the culture or just something I pick up when I write it can honestly be about personal experience or just something my imagination cooked up.

.

.

.

Tell the kind of advice you will give to an upcoming artist.

Just Stay true to self and grind hard don’t become a gimmick.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have obtained.

My career is just beginning to be honest “A.I.U” album was dropped last year. More music is on the way.

.

.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

It’s weird but I just started to write to beats and I love silence when writing a song. Being that I’m not signed yet I have to pay for it myself meaning studio time so I don’t want to go in there bullshitting. I practise days before I go and it turns out great.

.

.

.

Name the artists you are willing to collaborate with.

Some of the artists I would love to work with are Asap Rocky, Theophilus London, Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, Kendick Lamar.

Tell us about your happiest day and saddest day.

The happiest day for me was the birth of my daughter and when I and my homie Quischrist went to SXSW to perform.

The saddest day has to be when my mother passed away this year.

.

.

.

Tell us how you will spend a million dollars.

Spending a million dollars wouldn’t be a challenge I don’t spend like that I shop at Thrift stores, Vintage stores etc. I can make 10$ looks like 10million.

.

.

.

Tell us about your song.

“Coolie High” is basically that lyrical chill shit, I wanted something that people can feel good about but still sticking to my guns with lyrical content.

.

.

.

Tell us how you manage other activities with your music career.

Even when I’m at work I write music. Music is seriously life and there is no backup plan for me.

.

.

.

Tell us five artists you can regard as legends.

Five musicians I consider legends in no particular order would be Jay Z, Nas, Lupe Fiasco, Buckshot, Shorty Outkast.

.

.

.

Tell us your future plans pertaining music.

I plan for the future to be bright. I would love a deal and for the world to hear what I have to say.

.

.

.

Tell us what you think about creativity and originality in music.

Creativity is very important to me, it means a lot  and I feel like people bite the next artist’s style and get more credit than OG artist who made the track.

.

.

.

Tell us the reason you are into music.

One of the reasons I’m so much into music is that music gives you a platform to voice your opinion.

Ever since I heard Lupe Fiasco for the first time I was amazed and wanted to do it.

.

.

.

Tell us your most memorable day as an artist.

Most memorable day has to be performing at the Knitting Factory in New York and SXSW in Texas.

.

.

.

Tell us what you would do for the people if you found yourself in a position of power.

I honestly would tell them the blue print to my success, give back to my people and inspire others to do what I’ve done. People fail to realize this is America you can be whatever you want.
