Tell us about yourself.

ChampionsLeak consists of Lukas Loules and Choukri Gustmann. We know each other for years and are now a production team.

.

.

.

Tell us about yourself as an artist.

ChampionsLeak is about making music unaffected by the expectations of the major labels and their artists. We want to put out songs with real emotions which don’t even have to fit to current artists.

.

.

.

Tell us about the genre of your music.

You can’t put it in a genre, it’s a mix of Trap, EDM, Dance, Hip-hop and anything that we like.

.

.

.

Tell us about the story behind your song.

“FTPA” is about getting over your pain that you experienced in a relationship (?). And getting over it means you got to have a good time with somebody else.

.

.

.

Tell us about the challenges you are facing as a musician.

Music is like a drug and it takes a lot of time to create this kind of art. The challenge is to find the right balance between music and life…

.

.

.

Tell us about the recording and production of the song.

We had a fun time writing and recording the song with Radiiio from Compton. He gave us the main inspiration for the song.
After recording we flipped the production and the result is what you hear.

.

.

.

Tell us the names of blogs, radio or TV stations that have supported you so far.

We just started with ChampionsLeak and are very excited about every little step forward.

.

.

.

Tell us more about your music career, experience and future goals.

We just want to put songs out and make the world a better place with our music.

.

.

.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.

Anything that happens to you in life can be an inspiration, every experience you made or situation that you had to go through.

Sometimes it’s just a baseline staring a whole song and sometimes a singer is dropping a topline which we keep remixing until we find it unique and magical.

.

.

.

Tell us the secret behind making a hit song.

The secret is that you can’t calculate music. There are hit formulas but they sound just like stupid math if the magic isn’t happening at the same time.

The secret is to find that magic that nobody knows where it comes from.

.

.

.

Tell the kind of advice you will give to an upcoming artist.

Just keep going, even if the pocket is still empty. And you got to be crazier about music than anybody else. Drive isn’t enough. Overdrive!

.

.

.

Elaborate on your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have obtained.

That’s for others to tell. I hate to brag about achievements. Our biggest achievement is that we’re finally one with our music.

.

.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

Most of our songs are created in writing sessions with the writer or the artist. For us, it’s all about having a fun time in the Studio. It’s all about real emotions and authentic situations. You can’t fake that.

.

.

.

Name the artists you are willing to collaborate with.

Mainly singers. Julia Michaels, SZA, Travis Scott, Miguel, Alina Baraz.

.

.

.

.

Tell us about your happiest day and saddest day.

Happiest day of ChampionsLeak was when we wrapped our car in Matt Orange. Sad day was when the legendary pug “Rolex” had to leave the building.

.

.

.

Tell us how you will spend a million dollars.

In a music studio with a REWE supermarket at the ground floor and an Italian restaurant in the back house.

.

.

.

Tell us about your song.

“Fuck the Pain Away” is our debut song and is a hybrid of chill trap / hip hop / edm /and pop.

The featured singer is Radiiio who we wrote a couple more songs with for ChampionsLeak. We love his melodramatic 80’s tone. It’s very slow and codeinish but you can still dance to it. If we would need to choose a color for the song, it would be purple.

.

.

.

Tell us how you manage other activities with your music career.

Stepping out of the studio is same important as the hard work behind closed doors. It’s about getting inspired and injecting some live to your music. But of course when we hang at Santa Monica beach or Brehmplatz  in Dusseldorf, we always carry our music in our minds.

.

.

.

Tell us five artists you can regard as legends.

2pac, Amy Winehouse, Prince, Michael Jackson, Notorious BIG.

.

.

.

Tell us your future plans pertaining music.

We just want to keep doing what we love. Write great songs with inspiring songwriters and release them independently. We hope our music will be received well so we can play some festivals and club shows in far future. The journey just started…

.

.

.

Tell us what you think about creativity and originality in music.

The chance in being original is the genre mixing. And extraordinary voice colors are making songs unique and recognizable. Music is being formatted by the industry too much. Major labels are not a must anymore in digital times. So it’s easier to go out there as an unfiltered artist if you’re brave enough to go down that road.

.

.

.

Tell us the reason you are into music.

Main reason is because it’s the chance to completely forget about time like you’re consuming a drug which doesn’t kill you. It’s also a great way of self-therapy to channel your thoughts and emotions.

.

.

.

Tell us your view on old school music and new school music in terms of preference.

If you look at Hip-hop or RnB there is a clear line between new and old-school, like the new trap stuff that is going on against the Boom Bap/ New Jack Swing Sound from back in the days. Talking about preferences is really difficult because we love different kinds of music .Teddy Riley and Darkchild are definitely the ones we go for when talking about old-school. But we are also into the new stuff, it just have to have a good feeling.

.

.

.

Tell us your most memorable day as an artist.

Our first release this Friday.

.

.

.

Tell us what you would do for the people if you found yourself in a position of power.

Supporting animals and making sure pugs are being bred healthy.

Making sure our families are safe maybe support some street workers and definitely support and encourage young artists.

Having an organization that will be helping people with anxiety, attacks and drugs.

In exactly that order haha…
