Tell us about yourself.

My name is David Luff, I am from Croatia and I have been writing and producing songs since I was 15.

.

.

.

Tell us about yourself as an artist.

I consider myself a truly artistic type of a person, and I try to portrait that in my songs. I truly believe that every song has to make you feel something that is why I am always using my personal problems, relationships or deepest fears in writing my own lyrics, and packing it all in catchy pop music.

.

.

.

Tell us about the genre of your music.

It is pop with a lot of other genres mixed in it.

.

.

Tell us about the story behind your song.

With “Heart”, I tried to use raw images of body response when you fall in love with someone. A lot of people describe it as a warm, fuzzy feeling, but for me, it can be extremely painful and scary as I tend not to trust people. So falling in love seems to me as if someone was deceiving me.

.

.

.

Tell us about the challenges you are facing as a musician.

My biggest challenge is getting my music to the people who will appreciate it.

.

.

.

Tell us about the recording and production of the song.

Song was written by me, and produced by an amazing producer from Russia, After Birds, with a bit of my help. We tried to minimize the production to something almost “ugly” so it can frame those direct, raw images portrayed in lyrics.

.

.

.

Tell us the names of blogs, radio or TV stations that have supported you so far.

So far, local community here in Croatia has supported me very well, including various radio interviews and plays, newspapers, music blogs and interviews for magazines which yielded in success with first single off this EP, “I Wanted It”. So far, it has almost 3000 views.

.

.

.

Tell us more about your music career, experience and future goals.

I am planning to release another EP sometime soon, as a sequel to this one.

.

.

.

Tell us what inspires you to write, compose and sing.

Everyday life and moments that happen to me.

.

.

.

Tell us the secret behind making a hit song.

I would if I knew.

.

.

.

Tell the kind of advice you will give to an upcoming artist.

Do your thing and never stop dreaming!

.

.

.

Elaborate on your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have obtained.

So far, I have released a debut album which had some small success, and now, two years later, I released this EP. It took a while because I was trying to find my sound and I can proudly say that I have finally found it, and making music now feels great and exciting.

.

.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

I usually come up with a melody, when an inspiration strikes me. I record it in my phone and later I start making a demo. Usually, lyrics come on their own, different keys and chords inspire me and lyrics just flow outta me. And in studio, I am very detailed and know what I want, because I write all my songs, so I am not resting until I achieve the sound I want.

.

.

.

Name the artists you are willing to collaborate with.

My biggest dream was Michael Jackson, unfortunately he had passed. FKA Twigs and Allie X are cool girls, and I would love to collaborate with them sometime.

Tell us about your happiest day and saddest day.

Ummm happy day…there are so many to choose from, but last one that I remember is when I graduated from college. And saddest day…probably when my grandma passed away.

.

.

.

Tell us how you will spend a million dollars.

I would buy a huge mansion by the sea!

.

.

.

Tell us how you manage other activities with your music career.

I work full time in a hospital and also freelance as a songwriter and translator. But I believe that if you love something, you won’t see it as a job that is why after a full day, I come home and start making music. That is my therapy!

.

.

.

Tell us five artists you can regard as legends.

Michael Jackson! I don’t want to name anyone else as I feel they would seem small next to him.

.

.

.

Tell us your future plans pertaining music.

More new music, moving to London and small tour.

.

.

.

Tell us what you think about creativity and originality in music.

I believe that if you try to do something trendy, you will always fail. It is better to do you, stay original and you find an audience for that.

.

.

.

Tell us the reason you are into music.

It seems natural to me, like breathing, so not making music would be devastating for me and my spirit.

.

.

.

Tell us your view on old school music and new school music in terms of preference.

I like mix of both! Old music usually inspires me when I am trying to make something new, because I feel people back then put more work into cohesive albums and songs; nowadays it’s mostly single after single because our attention doesn’t last long. But I do listen to new music of course!

.

.

.

Tell us your most memorable day as an artist.

When I released my first music ever!

.

.

.

Tell us what you would do for the people if you found yourself in a position of power.

Punish all those rich people or companies that don’t pay taxes and renovate school system to be more practical and not sitting all day learning useless facts.
