Puppet Rebellion

Tell us about yourself.

We are a five piece alternative band from Manchester UK. We formed five years ago but have had five lineup changes in that time! We released our debut album ‘Chemical Friends’ in November 2017.

.

.

.

Tell us about the genre of your music.

Most of our music has an up-tempo, melodic post punk sound but our latest single ‘Dark Thoughts’ is a softer piano ballad.

.

.

.

Tell us about the story behind your song.

The song was written on Christmas day 2015 during a period of depression. It was a song that came together very quickly and really defined the mood at the time.

.

.

.

Tell us the challenges you are facing as a musician.

The main challenge we face is to reach a big enough audience to sustain us in the long term. We believe our music is as good as anything out there, but the quality of our music is only half of the battle.

.

.

.

Tell us about the recording and production of the song.

The song was recorded with acclaimed producer Gavin Monaghan and mixed by Joseph Murrary at Magic Garden Studio in Wolverhampton. We were aiming for a deliberately lo fi feel to this particular track.

.

.

.

Tell us the names of blogs, radio or TV stations that have supported you so far.

We have been supported this year by BBC radio 2 and BBC Introducing as well as many online music blogs and digital radio stations.

.

.

.

Tell us more about your music career, experience and future goal.

Our future goal is to be a successful cult band with a loyal fan base. We are not interested in a fleeting moment of mainstream success. We want to create something that matters to people.

.

.

.

Tell us the secret behind making a hit song.

Amazing melodies supported by amazing arrangements.

.

.

.

Tell the kind of advice you will give to an upcoming artist.

Be patient, and persevere.

.

.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

We usually start off singing melodies over basic chord patterns. Once we have something we like we start to build our arrangements and structure around that.

.

.

.

Name five biggest artists that you like.

Kasabian

The Killers

The Strokes

Bloc Party

Interpol
