ADaD (The Rapper) grew up on the dangerous and impoverished South Side of Chicago and was able to make it out alive. He has been creating music and video as an expression of his life for over a Decade.

Tensei is a 2 man producer team (Midas Wells and Chris Kramer) also hailing from Chicago, the duo made traditional hip hop beats (sample based) for years and decided to team up to make 100% sample free original tracks together.

About “Walk into the Night” in ADaDs Words:

This is some art rap shit right here. Totally original composition with experimental raps and melodies. “Walk into the Night” is an ode to Adad’s relationship; indiscretions of his youth. “I got it in with no guilt” is the state of mind that crashes and burns you when bad habits affect good love. This is a single from ADaD & Tensei’s 6 song EP “Danger Us” available on January 12 2018 everywhere good music is found.

About the “Danger Us” EP: Release 1/12/18 on all platforms:

After a hiatus from releasing music, Dirty Science, All natural Inc. hip hop alum ADaD is prepared to release “Danger Us’”, an EP produced by Chicago’s own Tensei. The six song EP is a super fresh example of contemporary hip hop. Mostly produced using live instrumentation; Tensei enlisted the skills of some elite Chicago Natives, such as Makaya McCraven (International Anthem), Greg Spero (Halsey) , Yaw Ageyman, Kiara Lanier (American Idol), and Wes Restless. The organic swing of the drums… the full string sections, live pianos and vocal assists all laid the foundation for an MC who knows how to command a composition. In the vein of the Great Black Thought, who is also featured on the project, Adad weaves his voice in and out of each track with a grown man’s comfort and resolve…. Fueled with the same hunger he had as the day he started. It’s one of those things you have to hear to understand, one of those projects that’s not quite like any other but evokes very familiar emotions for anyone who’s been a longtime fan of good beats and great lyrics. This project sets a high bar and an intention for quality output as ADaD plans to make 2018 his most productive year to date. Releasing on January 12th 2018, it will be the first page of a new chapter of a story that will ultimately be defined by greatness.

Tensei (Plug Research since 2011) consisting of Midas Wells and Chris Kramer have long been pushing boundaries of integrating classic hip hop and electronic production with live instrumentation, both played by themselves and incorporating some of the top talent in the Chicago Jazz and Soul scene in their works. After several EP’s, Remixes (Bilal Robots, Tokimonsta ft. Anderson .Paak – Put it Down, among others), and productions over the years, the duo will be releasing their first full length LP in 2018 on all platforms including Vinyl.

After working with several record labels in various capacities both ADaD as well as Tensei will be venturing into completely self-released and independent music releases in 2018 and beyond.  This release marks a new beginning for both in what looks to be an Epic 2018.

Narrate your experience while recording in the studio or while touring.
Inspiration comes and goes, so it’s important to capture it when it’s there. For that reason we keep portable gear on hand to get down ideas when they come.

In the studio, we usually know what we want to do so knock it out pretty efficiently…

.

Go into detail about your songwriting process.
Songwriting starts out with a melody and a concept, then experience and the surroundings fill in the rest.  Tensei is really good at capturing the essential ideas and making them expanded in production.

Brief us on what you have on the way for your fans out there.
Aside from the ADaD x Tensei EP (out 1/12/18 on all platforms) there are several releases in the works.

ADAD has 2 solo projects that will come out in 2018.

Tensei has a debut LP (which will be on vinyl) and an EP as well.

Tell us what you are doing to increase your fan base.
In order to increase our fan base, we are heavily investing our time on creating video based content which can be seen on our respective Instagram pages. Aside from that we are actively booking tours.

.

.

.

Tell us that point in time that you just feel like giving up on your music career.
It has happened several times, usually after some big opportunity fell through and did not pan out the way we hoped it would. However in retrospect that is what makes us better and stronger artists. We need to fail in order to succeed.

.

.

.

Go into detail on how you make your instrumentation or melody.

Tensei makes the melody and instrumentation on piano, and bass. Usually one of the members has a chord progression idea in the head and then makes a sketch track and when together in the studio they flesh out the ideas.

.

.

.

Tell us your complete understanding of music licensing.

Music licensing is usually non-exclusive and also subject to copyright infringement. This is why we always make 100% original songs!!!

Sync fees are always a sought after form of payment and royalties through our respective collection agencies (ASCAP, BMI) tend to take a long time to actually hit our bank accounts.

Definitely music licensing is one of the primary methods to generate income for us.

Tell us your favourite genre of music.

ADaD: Hip Hop

Tensei: It’s hard to pinpoint one, but probably a mixture of Hip Hop, Trip Hop, and Electronica.

.

.

Tell us the subject matter of most of your songs.

Life, relationships, reality on the streets of Chicago.

.

.

.

Tell us all we need to know about this song.

This song is a reflection on ADAD’s promiscuous younger years and how he ruined good relationships with great women due to this.

.

.

.

Tell us what you think about digital distribution and streaming.

We think that it’s great to be able to access any music on the go, on our phones or computers.  However having grown up in the 80s and 90s; we miss the physical copies and having to pre-order our favorite artist materials, have a physical copy of the album art, etc.

A con to the digital era is that the quality control is much lower since anyone can put anything out there.

.

.

.

Tell us various ways that artists can boost their revenue.
Shows

.

Tell us your thought on self-training and going to educational institution to study music.
We feel that no matter how much musical education you have, if you do not have heart or a good ear and good feel for the music; it is boring.

While all the members of this project have never had a formal class or went to school for music, we do also respect the hard work and effort that some of the top caliber musicians and vocalists have put into the education side of it.

Neither is better, but both combined can be very strong.

.

Go on at length on what it takes to write a hit song.

We have not made a hit song, so we really do not know the answer to that question. However we would assume that a catchy beat and hook are pretty essential.
