Moekel

Tell us everything will need to know about you.
I’m Michael, a 26 years old guy born & living in Austria. I love making electronic music, and when I’m not in the studio, I love spending time outdoors.

.

.

.

State your favourite genre of music and your reason.
I love Hip-Hop & Drum and Bass, mostly because when I was a kid, my older cousin showed me some Eminem tracks, and I was totally into that. Later friends in school showed me Drum and Bass tracks by Pendulum, which also really got me.

.

.

.

Tell us your experience as a musician.
For me, making music and working with music is the most fulfilling way to spend my time. It can be hard to listen to my inner voice and produce the music that really comes out of me. Stuff other people I spend time with listen to can influence me, which is sometimes good, sometimes bad. I think my story could be titled “Finding myself”.

.

.

.

Tell us the theme of your song.
Rebellion & dissatisfaction with yourself.

.

.

.

Name the people behind your success and thank them on this platform.
Christoph, for being some kind of mentor since day one, and Jakob, for spending so much time with me making music and talking about it, and always helping me to improve my sound design.

.

.

.

Tell us about your future goals.
I want to pay my rent & life expenses by making music, work together with great artists & release inspiring and touching music.

.

.

.

Elaborate on how you think your music is inspiring your fans.
I hope everybody who listens to my music feels some of the emotions I had creating it.

.

.

.

Explain the changes you have observed so far in the music industry.
I think originality is more important than ever. Producing music and sounding good became easier, it’s more about uniqueness nowadays.

.

.

.

State the artists you cherish most and your reason.
That’s on one hand Flume and Camo & Crooked for their unique style and outstanding originality, and Etherwood on the other,
because he has some special emotional touch to his music.

.

Elaborate on how you develop your lyrics.
That’s a mixture between planned brainstorming and just letting my thoughts go their way.

.

.

.

Tell us if you enjoy collaborating with other artists or just singing as a solo artist.
I actually like both. Other artists always give me a new point of view, which is really inspiring, but making music
completely on my own is interesting too, because I have control about all parameters.

.

.

.

Brief us your opinion on making music that makes people to dance or making the kind of music with genuine message that inspires them.
I think it’s similar for each kind of music. You need to capture your emotions musically and have fun during the process of creating. That’s something the listener is going to feel.

.

.

.

Discuss the impact of a Performing Rights Organization.
Great they exist, no one can search the whole world for if their music is used.

.

.

.

Go into detail on the recording process of this song.
“Foolish Heart” started as a guitar jam for some other track I was working on. The sound of the guitar amp I chose led me to the Hip-Hop beat, and the creation of the synthesizers and bassline I used. The drums were inspired by ‘You Know’ by Flume.
The track was first drafted without vocals, and then Scorzayzee’s rap part came in. It really ‘awakened’ the instrumental track for me.
Then we got together in a studio in my hometown the Stefanie, and recorded the chorus. That’s basically it.

.

.

.

Discuss your music performance.
I’m a DJ, so, give me a mixer and some cd players. I’m thinking about adding live elements to my performances in the future, like for example playing the guitar live. We’ll see.

.

.

.

Tell us how you will rate yourself as an artist.
That’s really hard, because I’m always bad at rating my music. But I’d say, some guy who tries to print the musical ideas flowing around in his head.
