Go into detail on how you decide to choose music as a career.

I actually didn’t choose a music career, it chose me. I’ve been playing music since I was a kid but never thought about pursuing it as a career. I started by playing violin, and singing in a choir, then I added guitar. A few years later, I was demoing records for major artists and writing with other indie songwriters. After uploading a cover song onto YouTube, I got a random call about performing at a major venue here in LA. Not even knowing how to fill an entire 45 min set – I accepted. That created a snowball effect of shows.

Brief us the feedback you are getting from fans concerning your music.

I’m getting really great feedback. People seem to love 3rd & 6th. It’s pretty vibey and I think they like what I have to say. The rest of the EP comes out on Jan 26th so I’m excited to see what people think of the rest of the songs.

Discuss the relevance of social networking to music.

It’s everything. As an independent artist – you have to socialize not only on social media but also in person. Going to events, parties, or even the grocery store is crucial to spread the word and get your music heard.

Brief us about the recording of this song.

It was interesting. It was hard at the time because I was just coming off from being sick. So I was surprised my voice held up as well as it did.

.

.

.

Tell us the story behind the song.

3rd Street & 6th St is where my ex and I lived together, and once we broke up, I found myself in this annoying cycle of hoping each ‘new time’ would be different (My ex wanting attention and once I would respond, I’d hear nothing back). I figured that because I was so in love that things would change.

.

.

.

State your area of specialization in music.

Specialization? Umm lol I guess I’m a singer/songwriter and musician. 🙂

.

.

.

Tell us how long it takes to finish a song from the start.

There’s really no telling. I have written and recorded a song within a couple days, but also I’ve written a song, then I rewrote it, and then made edits and then got into the studio much later to record it – and at the end of it all – it took 6 months lol. So it really just depends on what tools you have at your immediate disposal and your patience. I’ve learned to believe that songs will be ready when they are ready, not necessarily when you are ready.

.

.

Go into detail on how you develop your lyrics and melody.

I love playing the guitar and letting myself feel free to hum whatever may come out. Sometimes it’s just sounds & melody, sometimes it’s words. Once I center on something specific I want to talk about – I craft around whatever sounds/humming is still stuck in my head.

.

.

.

Discuss music generally in full details.

There’s so much about music, there’s no way one person could ever describe it all. I think what I will say is that music has a way with making us feel, believe, hope, take action, & speak up. I think anything that can do that – and really resonate with even one person – is the most powerful thing.

.

.

.

State your five favourite genres of music with reasons.

1) Alternative Pop – I love the lyrics, and usually it’s pretty vibey/groovy which I like…like Banks or Frank Ocean.

2) R&B – Something I grew up on. True R&B will always have a special place in my heart and ears.

3) Pop – Pop melodies fascinate me. How people can write music that the general public can immediately connect with is powerful.

4) Orchestral – Dark, earthy, and natural. Music without words that can entice your emotions in ways words never could.

5) Singer-songwriter- I love finding new artists who have a voice (something to say) and that are unapologetic about their unique sound.

.

.

.

Discuss your rehearsal.

I’m very efficient when it comes to rehearsals- I set the set list weeks beforehand and go into band rehearsal with the ideas that I want to first try out/ solidify. Once we start, I just allow things to flow like they do. I love when the different musicians have really great ideas and we try them out – I love to be inspired and I think collaboration in rehearsal creates the best possible experience for an audience.

.

.

.

State your favourite musical instruments.

Too many. I guess I should say guitar first – since I play that every day- then violin, piano, trumpet, cello, drums, etc.

.

.

.

Describe the chemistry between you and your fans during a live performance.

My favorite thing is performing. I love the constant exchange of feedback between the performer and the audience. I feed off of their energy and it makes me work to give them the best and most honest version of me that I can offer. I also talk a lot so I think they also find me funny lol.

.

.

.

Discuss your personality in full details.

Haha. I’m crazy. Lol I go after what I want and I always get what I want. Maybe not exactly when I want it, but I will work my ass off until I can get it.

.

.

.

Tell us about your musical background.

I play guitar, violin, a little piano & penny whistle, and I sing. I have done them all since I was a kid. I guess I kind of just gravitated towards anything that made loud sounds haha.

.

.

.

List your musical work.

Songs I have out right now –

1) Ready – Also a song available on my EP REHAB,

Share your memorable experiences with us.

When I moved to LA.; I drove across the country – from Atlanta to Los Angeles, in a 2 door Honda Civic with my whole life packed in my backseat. I learned I could sit very uncomfortably for 3 days.

Tell us the good and bad side of mankind you know.

Good side – that we all have the power to recognize that we all have a bad side.

The bad side – we don’t always admit the bad side doesn’t bring anything good to our lives.
