State your favourite genre of music and your reason.

R&B, Hip Hop, Rap, and EDM, all call to me. I feel an overwhelming connection with them and most of my song writing is a combination of these genres which lead me to identify some of my music as Neo Soul.

.

.

.

Tell us your experience as a musician.

Playing my guitar, singing and creating a new melody, is like a beautiful love affair.  It captivates my mind, my soul, allows me to share my deepest feelings through this beautiful language of music. I am so grateful to be able to play, write, sing and perform and am determined to continue this love affair for the rest of my life.

.

.

.

Tell us the theme of your song.

“Kissed By An Angel” is about professing your love to a special someone. Sometimes we can be afraid to profess our deep feelings. This song is about just saying it loudly!  It’s about being willing to tell the world and the person you care about how you feel without reservations! It is a statement of courage and love emphasizing the magical presence of someone who almost seems divine.

Name the people behind your success and thank them on this platform.

Wow!  So many people to thank!   I will begin with mentioning my ever loving family, mentors and friends who together with the best fans in the world, my #angels, have continued to love and support my journey and every new song.

.

.

.

Tell us about your future goals.

2018 is going to be epic!  I am recording and releasing many new songs and will continue my “Kissed by An Angel” tour with my baby Lavender!  She has been amazing across 8 states and I am looking forward to many more!  I also plan to go to other countries this year!  Mexico, Australia, Spain and New Zealand are in the horizon!   I am also very excited about participating on American Idol 2018 and multiple projects with other artists and industry leaders.  So much to do!

Go into detail about your opinion on religion and politics.

I am a firm believer that religion and politics are a very private and personal matter. I believe everyone is on their own path of understanding, based on their experiences, needs and research. I believe that as individuals we have a right to make our own conclusions as to what we believe and adhere to, while I also believe we should respect other people’s opinions and beliefs.

.

.

.

Elaborate on how you think your music is inspiring your fans.

I do many of my shows at high schools and colleges and they are some of my favorite venues with some of my biggest fans! Whether they are familiar with my music or not, I love it when I can bring my musical show to them!  I pick songs that drive them to jump, dance and make them feel alive!   Whether it is one of my original songs or a cover song, my goal is to inspire my fans with positive messages that will help them get through life.  So, when I get messages from my fans telling me that my music inspired them to combat depression or an issue in life, I am grateful for the opportunity to make an impact on their life.

Explain the changes you have observed so far in the music industry.

Years ago a musician’s success was measured by the amount of albums sold, the Billboard charts, whether you were represented by a major label and if your song was playing on the radio.  That has all changed.  Today Spotify playlists, YouTube and the amount of monthly listeners and followers you garner with lots of hard work can help any underground artist like myself make this dream a viable reality.  There are loads of on-air competitions like American Idol, the Voice, X factor and more in almost every country.  I for example, am so excited to be on American Idol this year for another chance to be heard.  America will decide!

State the artists you cherish most and your reason.

Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Drake, The Weekend, Etta James, Michael Jackson, Prince, Dolly Parton, Elvis- these are some of my absolute favorites. I am a big fan of singer-songwriters like Prince and Dolly Parton because I feel they connect with their music in such an incredibly special way but, I am also an incredibly huge fan of artists like Rihanna because her interpretation of music and the personal edgy touch she gives her music is so incredibly inspiring to me.

Elaborate on how you develop your lyrics.

When I write a song it’s usually based on personal experiences. I have always been a big fan of writing and since writing a song is really about telling a story, I try to think of it like poetry. I feel lyrics should be relatable and personal but also left to interpretation depending on the individual who’s listening so they can apply the lyrics and message to their own life.

.

.

.

Tell us if you enjoy collaborating with other artists or just singing as a solo artist.

I love collaborating with other artists. There are so many collaborations I would love to do. Some of my favorite collaborations of others artists include the songs, Despacito, Side to Side, Too Good,  Drunk in Love, I’m the One by DJ Khaled.  One day, I hope to do some awesome collaboration like these! Actually one might.

.

Brief us your opinion on making music that makes people to dance or making the kind of music with genuine message that inspires them.

I love making music that creates an escape from reality for people. During live shows, when I see everyone dancing and having a great time, there really is no better feeling. My number one goal in life is to bring joy to other people and when I’m on stage and I see that happening, I feel completely in tune with my purpose and know I want to do this for the rest of my life.

Discuss the impact of a Performing Rights Organization.

Performing rights organizations like ASCAP, which I belong to, are an important part of us creatives.  They provide resources, information and a community to help us understand our rights and our monetary compensation. So grateful for my ASCAP membership.

.

Elaborate on how you develop your melody and instrumentation.

Every time I write a song, it’s always a slightly different process. Sometimes I write to my guitar, sometimes I wake up with a melody in my head, and sometimes I start with lyrics and then write the melody. It really just depends on what’s speaking to me at the moment.

.

.

.

Go into detail on the recording process of this song.

“Kissed by An Angel”, was a beautiful process which included many long beautiful hours of contemplation on instrumentation and the right mix in order to bring to life a final song that was ready for release.  The opening instrumentation is meant to put the listener in a captive trance and question whether they have ever met a real Angel.  The build in the song had to be perfectly balanced against the angst of the verses which are much softer in nature.  So incredibly pleased with the combination of R&B, rap, pop and a splash of rock that finally dictated the final production of “Kissed by An Angel”.

.

.

.

Discuss your music performance.

I absolutely love performing! Listening to a record is a completely different experience than feeling the music in a live setting!  There’s nothing I enjoy more than interacting with my audience during a live show. It is absolutely magical!

.

.

.

Tell us how you will rate yourself as an artist.

I would rate myself as an artist for all ages.  I am a singer, songwriter, musician and motivational speaker. As an artist, I thoroughly enjoy interacting with my audience, watching them have a good time- dancing, smiling, living the moment, making memories and enjoying life!
