Bart Kobain

Go into detail on how you decide to choose music as a career.

To me making music is a choice, not a decision. It’s all about being naturally passionate and trying to make a living out of a dream.

.

Brief us the feedback you are getting from fans concerning your music.

Besides the depth of the stories I try to tell, I generally get good feedback about my voice and my flow.

.

.

.

Discuss the relevance of social networking to music.

Social networking is one of the main ingredients nowadays. As a student in advertising, I know that connecting with people and building a solid network is very important because it opens doors/opportunities.

.

.

Brief us about the recording of this song.

This song has been recorded in two studio sessions, first time I had the hook but the verses were not lyrically satisfying. So I had to jump in the booth a second time in order to wrap up the song. I really wanted to write something deep and easy to relate at the same time.

.

.

.

Tell us the story behind the song.

The record mainly comes from the sorrow I had due to losing a girl who I thought would be my one and forever wife. She went on a student exchange program miles away from me and our story hit the fan (but that’s for the 2nd verse). In the 1st verse I talk about another chick I tried to hook up with after all the mess with my ex but it didn’t work out so I had to write down my frustration.

.

.

.

State your area of specialization in music.

In music I’d say that I’m specialized in rapping, writing and creating concepts.

.

.

.

Tell us how long it takes to finish a song from the start.

The time I take to make a song is really random; it depends on the mood, the energy and the concept.

.

.

.

Go into detail on how you develop your lyrics and melody.

In the process of making a song I always start by listening to some beats that fit in my current mood. As soon as I have found one, I usually try to get a good hook first and then I focus on spitting the most fire I can in the verses.

.

.

.

Discuss music generally in full details.

About the music now, I feel like we really came to an era where a lot of musicians are able to express themselves because it’s easier now and it’s good because it’s like music made by the people for the people not to mention that you have some non-mainstream songs that are more relatable than what we hear through mainstream channels.

.

.

.

Favorite genres: Hip-hop, Electro, Jazz-Gospel and Classic (minor tones).

Describe the chemistry between you and your fans during a live performance.

When it comes to live, I’m good at connecting with the crowd and involving them in the show. The public has to somehow be aware that they will have fun if they put themselves into it.

.

.

.

Discuss your personality in full details.

I have “personalities” You’ve got Richard ; the basic student who’s just a nice guy sometimes grumpy .Then you’ve got Bart who’s the opposite, he’s a brat, very straight forward and above all bull-headed but with a lot of energy and that’s what “fans” like about him. Finally you’ve got Ricky, who is the drunk part of me. That guy is basically a child in a grown man’s body, an unpredictable guy that does whatever he wants no matter the risks.

.

.

.

Tell us about your musical background.

As a young boy, I was a big fan of rock music so I tried to take some drumming lessons but it didn’t last long. Then after a whole summer spent in Atlanta at the age of 14, I fell in love with hip-hop and rap music.

State what takes your time apart from music.

What distracts me the most aside from music is school! I’m a full time college student majoring in advertising. These studies require a lot of time; I can’t wait to be done with it so I can fully focus on my art.

Share your memorable experiences with us.

At 19 I was able to study abroad, I stayed in LA for 6 months then in Costa Rica for 3 months, and it has been the best year of my life so far.

Tell us the good and bad side of mankind you know.

In our time, I’d say the best of mankind is how we can be diverse and thanks to the internet we are able to share our cultures across the world. The bad news is that there are still some people who are filthy rich and some other who are starving to death. I would love to see that change.
