Tell us everything will need to know about you.

DUETS AND STUFF is an indie duo based of Greta and Raimond from Uppsala, Sweden. We’re a DIY project which allows for every creative thing we come up with together; music, art, video and so on. We released our debut single “Serve Somebody” in January 2018 and our latest single “Hold On” is available now on the common platforms. Our aesthetic is minimalistic and simple indie pop with some catchy details. We like to keep things simple.

.

.

.

State your favourite genre of music and your reason.

We find inspiration in a lot of genres, but indie pop is the one closest to our hearts.

.

.

.

Tell us your experience as a musician.

We both have experience playing in pop and rock bands on our own, but we have been playing together for a long time just for fun. In the end of 2017 we felt the inspiration to record and release something together which resulted in the debut single “Serve Somebody”.

.

.

.

Tell us the theme of your song.

Our new single “Hold On” is much about how to let go of what other people think of you, or at least what you believe other people think. It has a message of being in the present moment and forgetting everything not of importance. The sound has a bit of The xx-vibe to it and together with our first single “Serve Somebody” – we think it summarizes our sound in a good way.

.

.

.

Name the people behind your success and thank them on this platform.

We think the response on our music has been great so far, and we want to thank all the listeners and music blogs for following us and sharing our music. We went into this project with an open mindset and no expectations so we are incredibly happy with all the positive response.

.

.

.

Tell us about your future goals.

Our plan is to keep writing new songs and release an album later this year.

.

.

.

Go into detail about your opinion on religion and politics.

In our music, we tend to write from an individual perspective and not so much politics or religion is included. In daily life, we try to be as open minded as possible. There’s something to learn from every person you meet.

.

.

.

Elaborate on how you think your music is inspiring your fans.

We believe people like the minimalistic and playful vibe in our music. We try to not make things too complicated.

.

.

Explain the changes you have observed so far in the music industry.

It seems like in the music industry these days, promotion is an important aspect of how you will reach out to the crowd. We have noticed an increased amount of PR-companies reaching out to artists. We feel like it’s easier for artists to be independent without a label nowadays that is why we have decided to work with this project right now.

.

.

.

State the artists you cherish most and your reason.

If we get to choose 2: Peter Bjorn and John is a huge inspiration for our sound. They are a great band and they have playfulness in their music which we appreciate a lot. As we mentioned before, The xx is also an influence with their mellow and cool vibe.

Elaborate on how you develop your lyrics.

We don’t know what the song is going to be about when we start a new one. When we start working on a new track it could either be based on a musical piece, or it could start with a melody and a piece of lyric. The aesthetic kind of grows from there, not knowing where it will end.

.

.

.

Tell us if you enjoy collaborating with other artists or just singing as a solo artist.

Since this project is pretty new started, we haven’t had the chance of collaborating yet, but we are open for it. As for now we enjoy working as we do right now, writing and recording in our living room at home.

.

.

.

Brief us your opinion on making music that makes people to dance or making the kind of music with genuine message that inspires them.

We don’t think one excludes the other. It’s a shame though, that everything these days seems to expire so quickly, not just the music. Everything is replaceable. For us, good music is about stopping for a moment and appreciating a good tune for its own uniqueness. If it makes you dance, well. If it makes you wonder about the most complex things, that’s good too.

.

.

.

Elaborate on how you develop your melody and instrumentation.

We often start with a drum beat and a melody from a synthesizer. But every song is different; we like to go simple with an acoustic guitar as well in our couch.

.

.

.

Go into detail on the recording process of this song.

We record and produce everything in our at home-studio. Usually Raimond is the one in charge of the recording procedure and Greta is the feedback. But we do most things together.

.

.

.

Discuss your music performance.

We have not done any live shows yet with DUETS AND STUFF, but that’s in our future plan too!

.

.

.

State the official date of release.

The latest single “Hold On” was released March 2 2018.

Nothing official yet for upcoming releases.

.

.

.

State your artist’s name and elaborate on it.

DUETS AND STUFF – it’s build around the idea of the content we want to create together. We wanted the name of the project to symbolize all our creative stuff.

.

.

.

State the title of the song and the meaning.

“Hold On” – it’s about holding on to the important things when you realize that most things in life really aren’t that important. Letting go of that perfect image of how to be and act and say. But it’s not easy; in the end we all want someone to tell us we’re okay.

.

.

.

State the title of the album and the reason for picking the title.

Stay in tune for the future album. 😉 It’s going to be a good one!
