State your reason for choosing music as a career.

I think for all of us in the band, music is just something we’ve gravitated towards, it wasn’t really a conscious thought, it just happened. I know for me personally pretty much all my friends are people I have met through music, it just feels right to play music and share that experience with other people.

.

.

Tell us how you write the lyrics to your song.

The lyrics usually start with our vocalist Ben writing the majority of lyrics and setting the tone for the song, from there we mold lyrics if needed or even alter the song to fit better.

.

Share your press release and reviews with us.

Many of the reviews have been good for the EP so far, it’s great to see people enjoying the record and writing up their thoughts on it!

.

.

.

Discuss your life outside the music world.

Outside of music we all work “normal” jobs, most of us in trades – it’s a lot easier to get time off for touring when you’re self-employed! Outside of music world we all do fairly regular things, we spend a lot of time hanging out with each other even when we’re not writing, touring or rehearsing.

.

.

.

Discuss your music career.

The fact that anyone cares about our band is amazing to us, it’s great to see the gradual increase in the band. We just want to play a lot of shows in a lot of places and meet a lot of people.

.

.

.

Elaborate on your artist’s name.

We chose “Cove” as it did not sound like a heavy band name, we’ve always strived to try and be a bit different in image and music from the norm in the scene.

List your five favourite music videos with reasons.

Norma Jean – If You Got It At Five You Got It At Fifty – this music video is utterly ridiculous and gross, watch it if you haven’t already

Architects – Follow The Water – this video summed up to me what a great show was like, it’s like all the highlights from that’s amazing show you went to with your friends.

Owen – O, Evelyn (Live outside The Chicago Theatre) – not really a music video, but a great video featuring music. Owen did a series for his album “Ghost Town” where he sang every song from the album live in a random/odd place, one he even does in a restaurant kitchen. This one I felt was great due to the people interrupting him half way through to ask about the football score, it’s so human.

My Ticket Home – Hyperreal – love the 90s vibe to this video, reminds me of all the videos I used to watch as a kid.

Counterparts – You’re Not You Anymore – this video is shot so beautiful, it ties into the lyrics so well.

.

.

.

Tell us your source of inspiration.

Everything! Musically it can be just a single sound, or some imagery that sets off an idea to write a riff or a part. Life is the biggest influence over lyrics and the struggles we all go through.

.

.

.

Tell us your impression on dealing with paparazzi.

Luckily we’re not at a size where paparazzi are a problem!

.

.

.

Elaborate on the recording of this song.

We recorded the EP with Oz Craggs at Hidden Track Studios – we’re all really stoked with how it came out, we all definitely put the time in to make sure what we had created was right.

.

.

.

List the names of those that have supported you so far.

There are too many to list! But we’re so grateful to every band that has taken us out on tour, our managers and press agents. Anyone that has seen us at a show or bought some merchandise – means the world!

.

.

.

Tell us your point of view on vocal tuning.

In this day and age vocal tuning is a very common thing, people naturally more often than not do not have perfect pitch, so I feel when it’s used in moderation it’s absolutely fine.

.

.

.

Tell us your thought on quality and quantity for the release songs.

I think quality is much more important, I’d rather release 1 great song that people would love rather than 12 mediocre songs.

.

.

.

Tell us your viewpoint on comparing music career to non-music career.

We all work so we can do the band, it’d be nice not to have to have a non-music career but we understand that it is easier said than done!

.

.

.

Tell us your opinion on categorizing music into genres and sub-genres.

I think it’s great if you want to pin point exactly what it is you’re after, although it can get a bit silly at times!

.

.

.

State the genre you despise most with reason.

I don’t think there is a whole genre I despise, if I don’t like a song it’s generally to do with the song rather than the genre… I’m fairly open with music!

.

.

.

List your five favourite movies with reasons.

Spinal Tap – it’s a no brainer!

Waynes World – grew up watching this film and I can quote the entire thing

Bill & Ted – another ridiculous film

Titanic – I just want to know why Jack wouldn’t fit on the door with Rose?!

Wolf Of Wall Street – the only film over 3 hours that can keep my attention!

.

.

.

State the official date of release.

“A Conscious Motion” was out on the 23rd of March… so it’s out now!

.

.

State the title of the song and the meaning.

“All I Believe” – this song is about losing everything, everyone you care about, everything that made you, you. It’s a deeply personal song to the band.

.

.

.

State the title of the album and the reason for choosing the title.

“A Conscious Motion” – the album title was chosen because we felt like it ties into a lot of themes in the songs, looking at yourself and making a conscious effort to be a better person, constantly in a conscious motion to be the best version of yourself.
