Betweenzone

Tell us your history.

Betweenzone is a German band which has released in the late 1990s and 2000s mainly electronic dance and experimental music tracks. In regard to their latest releases their music is difficult to pigeonhole, amalgamating elements of electronic dance, indie-rock, and retro rock with tinctures of psychedelia tossed in for flavor. They just do what they like! Current band members are:

Dave M. Rile: Vocals and production (since 1996);

East: Guitars and Bass (since 2000).

Describe yourself as an artist.

We are just producing music which streams out of our hearts and souls.

.

.

.

Tell us the genre of your music.

The early productions were pure electronic music. The recent productions are more organic but have still some electronic roots.

Overall it is a mix of pop, rock and dance music.

.

.

.

Tell us the story behind your song.

The lyrics reflect the experience of a friend of mine with his former spouse after they got divorced.

.

.

.

Tell us the problems you are facing as a musician.

The real problem for independent musicians is that it is very difficult to promote music nowadays. It’s hard to sell music in the times of streaming. So we can’t live from making music and have to work in so called normal jobs.

.

Discuss the recording and production of the song.

This is complete a home studio production. The trumpet in the main theme was played by a friend, guitars and vocals were recorded and the rest was programmed. Only the mastering was done by a mastering studio.

Tell the advice you will give to an upcoming artist.

Be always hungry for success and work on yourself to improve and release creativity from within.

.

.

.

Discuss at length your music careers, albums, songs, tours, recognition or awards you might have received.

We have released in the last year via Tunecore, the tracks have been streamed by some people, but not a real success insofar, but we will work even harder to improve and to grow better.

.

.

.

Tell us how you write your lyrics, compose, sing and record in the studio.

I personally compose the music first, and when the music is finished, I am looking for lyrics for that song. More important is the sound of the lyrics than the meaning in my opinion.
