Olihile ‘FREEKY’ Afrika is an African/Soul reggae artiste that was born in a township south of Johannesburg, South Africa.
Freeky was musically inclined and dominantly played the bass guitar within his teenage years; and contributed greatly to his friend’s albums and demos. Thereafter, Freeky joined a legendary Sotho Band, (Ntjapedi,) in 2006. It was with this band, that he shared stages with Salif Keita and Hugh Masekela.
In 2012 Freeky decided to try a solo career. He met Robin Mabunda of Dreaded Sounds who got him more in touch with reggae music’s roots. He collaborated with other African musicians he regards highly such as Bongo Riot and Jah Seed under the Ntjapedi umbrella. He also collaborated with Lutan Fyah, Sizzla, Stacious and Tabeta Cshae.
Freeky is currently working on his forthcoming album.
