Close Encounter

Close Encounter

Seattle-based band Close Encounter is chill music for aliens. They use an effectual yet melodic blend of psychedelic, guitar-heavy riffs, slow tempo beats, and introspective vocal mood to depict the dawn of a new age. Close Encounter consists of Bill Darksoft (Guitar/Vocals), Bobby Sydney (Guitar/Vocals), and Cameron Lambert (Drums). Close Encounter’s releases include First Light (2017) and Lost Time (2018) via Look Up Records. Their self-produced recordings have received airplay on KEXP, DKFM, and other independent radio, and they’ve played many Seattle venues including Neumos, Chop Suey, The Sunset, among others.

With a guitar and modest pedal board, Bobby Sydney (Goldd) mimics the drone of skidoos and airplanes in harmony, laying a lush foundation. His tenor vocals add to a soundscape reminiscent of Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine, or contemporaries like DIIV and Connan Mockasin. Before moving to Seattle, Bobby was previously of Fort Worth Texas shoegazers Skeleton Coast. Bill Darksoft’s (Banadu) lead guitar lines skirt funk, peppered with a love for the jangley chorus sound and pop anthems from 80s heroes like Echo and the Bunnymen, The Cure, or contemporaries like Future Islands and Black Marble. Bill has previously played with Hibou, Maiah Manser, and Fit For Hounds. He has engineered for Snuff Redux, Dead Bars, Red Ribbon, and other bands in Seattle.

Ashlynne Vince

Ashlynne Vince

Ashlynne Vince is exploding on the Canadian Country Scene as an emerging Canadian Country Artist dividing her time between Nashville, TN and her hometown of Welland, ON. After several years, as a young artist working in the music industry, things are falling nicely into place with her first release, Stupid Love, to Canadian Country Radio, released in the Fall of 2016! And her second National Release, No Boys Allowed, was released in January of 2017. Ashlynne’s third single, Take Cover, is currently on Canadian Country Radio stations all across Canada.

Her original written music first gained recognition from the 2011 Niagara Music Awards as Ashlynne Vince was awarded the winner for Rising Star of the Year at a young age of 13. In 2013 and 2014 Ashlynne made several trips to Nashville to record her debut self-written album Tidal Wave at the legendary CMT Studios. There she worked with studio engineer Rebekah Long (Cole Swindle, Stella Parton, Randy Houser) who went onto a position at The Tracking Room in the heart of Nashville’s Music Row. Rebekah invited Ashlynne (who was still in high-school at the time) to complete an internship in 2015 with her, and learn the engineering side of music to further her knowledge in the music industry and as an artist.

In 2015, while in Canada, Ashlynne had the honour of opening at a Hamilton, ON show for Canadian Idol runner up Jayden Bixby for a charity event for the Canadian National Autism Foundation. She also opened for runner up of Britain’s Got Talent Aliki at the Scotiabank Centre in Niagara Falls, ON to a sold out crowd. When in Nashville, Ashlynne performs on rotation at the famous Tootsies Wild Orchid Lounge, Rippy’s and Honky Tonk Central mentoring under some of the most entertaining and successful musicians in North America. She also makes occasional guest appearances on the General Jackson Riverboat Cruise, The Bluebird Cafe, Legends, The Stage, and The Palace, while in Nashville.

One of the highlights during the 2016 Festival Season in Ontario, was being chosen as a Spotlight Artist at the Trackside Music Festival joining the stage with Florida Georgia Line, Randy Houser, Brett Kissel, and Jess Moskaluke to name a few.

Ashlynne has started 2017 off on a high note as she was handpicked by Brett Kissel (CCMA Male Vocalist of the Year) to open on his Ice, Snow, and 30 Below Tour. She will be headlining  in July at the Billy Barker Days Festival in Quesnel BC as part of her No Boys Allowed tour which includes a radio tour in BC.

A proud member of the CCMA, CMAO, Grammys, Junos, Nashville Songwriters Association, SOCAN, ASCAP, and AFM – Ashlynne is deeply rooted in the Canadian Country scene.
Ashlynne has moved to Nashville and is a regular performer at Tootsies Wild Orchid Lounge, along with the sister bars, Rippy’s and Honky Tonk Central. If you are downtown on Lower Broadway, chances are, you will have the opportunity to hear Ashlynne perform.

WANK

Orange County, California – USA

Bobby Amodeo (lead vocals, bass)

Danny Walker (guitar)

Higgins X-13 (guitar)

Spider (drums)

Behold the return of Orange County’s own musical white knuckle ride, WANK. Full length record ready for release in 2018.

WANK formed in 1995 in Huntington Beach, CA. Mixing pop sensibility, rock chops, and punk energy, WANK (influenced by the Beatles and the Clash, among others) quickly gained momentum and garnered a reputation for themselves with melodic songs and highly entertaining live shows. In 1996, WANK self-released their debut, Get a Grip on Yourself. Their continuing success as a live act brought them to the attention of producer Mike Ness of Social Distortion, who oversaw the recording of “Larry Brown” for a split 7″ on Time Bomb Records (1997.) Ness also produced WANK on their version of “Auld Lang Syne,” their contribution to the comp, Christmas Gone Wrong (1997.)

In late 1997, “Forgiven” was added to rotation at the World Famous KROQ 106.7 in Los Angeles, and WANK was still unsigned. An industry bidding war ensued, and WANK signed an historic record deal with Maverick Records. In 1998, following an expedited major label re-release of Get a Grip on Yourself, WANK took their show on the road, touring with The Specials, Goldfinger, Social Distortion, and Warped Tour ’98. The band parted ways with Maverick Records in 1999 and focused on other projects.

In 2000, Amodeo was diagnosed with cancer, and after years of treatment, he’s back and rock ready. Walker formed and fronted Handsome Devil and was signed to RCA in 2001. Handsome Devil released three albums – Love and Kisses (2001), Knock Yourself Out (2004), and Fully Automatic (2007), and toured with The Used, Lit, Zebrahead, and Warped. In 2007, Walker and friends (from Lit, Adolescents, and Cadillac Tramps) formed Rockers in the Round – an acoustic showcase series. Walker released two singer-songwriter albums – Mumble & Strum (2011) and Salvation (2012). Spider focused on session work and artist management, and he’s still the hardest hitting drummer around.

WANK reunited in 2016, self-releasing their 5 song EP – On with the Show and, in 2017, added guitarist Higgins X-13, formerly of the Offspring. In 2018, WANK is in the studio finishing a new full length album for release. Enjoy – WANK is back.
