Discuss your existence.

On the LATIN FACULTY album nine vocalists perform 14 songs with a top-notch band, also there are two instrumentals.

The composer, Ingvi Thor Kormaksson, is from Iceland and has been writing songs for the past 30 years or so and has to this day 12 albums to his credit.

Lyricist, JJ Soul, is from Oxford, UK; artist, art teacher, singer, songwriter, lyricist, author of books.

.

.

.

State your favourite genre of music and your reason.

Since my teenage years I’ve admired the music of Brazil; Jobim, Bonfá, Lins and many more composers, and all the wonderful vocalists. Bossanova and samba rhythms have been featured on my albums, even in the more blues or folk oriented ones. Finally I decided to write music for an album that would showcase Latin music only. There are two or three salsa songs on the album, but mostly the music nods towards Brazil and could also be categorized as AC or smooth-jazz (Ingvi).

.

.

.

Tell us your experience as a musician.

I’ve had about 170 of my compositions recorded by various Icelandic artists. I write mainly in the AC genre, but jazzy chord progressions and bossanova rhythms are often featured in my music. Folk music traditions and blues can also be heard.
Collaborating with JJ Soul from Oxford, I have written music for JJ Soul Band’s 4 albums: Reverbnation

“MEASURING THE MARIGOLDS”-

Nominated: HMMA – Hollywood Music in Media Awards 2014.

“…on Latínudeildin, Latin Faculty achieve quality whether they are being more mindful of Brazilian music or more mindful of Afro-Cuban music/salsa. Latínudeildin is a consistently pleasing effort from this Latin-minded adult contemporary/pop-jazz outfit.”

Alex Henderson – Review You

“…Latinudeildin (Latin Faculty) is a great compilation of musicians from Iceland that know how to perform Brazilian, Latin, bossa nova, and jazz music styles. Most of the songs are vocal, but a few instrumental tunes pop up, too. A host of singers and instrumentalists round out the set and all of the vocals are superlative. Fans of international jazz, bossa nova, Brazilian music, and contemporary jazz will find solace in the compositions with ‘chilling’ results.”

Mathew Forss – Review You

“I love it! Beautiful songs, great singers and wonderful arrangements!”

Luiz Simas – http://www.luizsimas.com/

“First class, sophisticated and cool. Excellent performances, engineering and mixing.”

“A fine album. Splendidly done.”

Elaborate on how you think your music is inspiring your fans.

From “crowd reviews:

“The music to this track has a smooth, almost seductive feel. I would listen to it as I was relaxing. The singer’s voice is nice … towards the end; the song really came into its own.”

“Very pretty! It also sounds a little retro. The vocals are gorgeous and I want to sing along with her. Very interesting and well done … strong retro vibe but honestly I wouldn’t change a thing about it.”

“The vocalist has a nice submissive beautiful voice. The music sounds outdated, but still, she sounds so hot. The harmonica sounds beautiful also. I like the vibe of this song …”

“I like the way she carries her wonderful voice. It gives me such feeling comfort that gives me chills when I hear the tone of her voice.”

“Nice relaxing and calm song. I love how it is romantic and touching. I would dedicate it to my girlfriend. The beat is really soothing. Her voice is nice and soft I love it.”

.

.

.

State the artists you cherish most and your reason.

Ivan Lins and Donald Fagen are my favourite songwriters, because of their expertise in chord progressions. But mostly because their music sounds just great.

.

.

.

Tell us if you enjoy collaborating with other artists or just singing as a solo artist.

I usually work with a band and singers.

.

.

.

Explain copyright.

It’s essential to copyright every song you write.

.

.

.

Discuss the impact of a Performance Rights Organization.

I have a good relationship with my PRO office.

.

.

.

Elaborate on how you develop your melody and instrumentation.

In this case guitarist Edvard Larusson did the arrangement. He decided to hire this great harmonica player, Thorleifur Gaukur, to perform. I chose this young singer, Marina Osk. She sings three other tracks on the album.

.

.

.

Go into detail on the recording of this song.

First the playback was made with a band live-in-the-studio, then the vocals.

.

.

.

State your artist’s name and elaborate on it.

Latin Faculty was a name that was chosen for this album because of how the music relates to Latin America, and mostly Brazil.

.

.

.

State the title of the song and the meaning.

The phrase “measuring the marigolds” derives from Frank Loesser’s song:

“…Inch worm, inch worm
Measuring the marigolds
Seems to me, you’d stop and see
How beautiful they are…”

.

.

.

State the title of the album and the reason for choosing the title.

“Latinudeildin” is Latin Faculty in Icelandic.

Kina Monic

Kina Monic is an American singer born and raised in Miami, FL. From childhood, she has always had an interest in music. She would spend all her time watching music videos and spent her allowances on cassette tapes and CDs from her favorite artists. Her earliest vocal influence was by Mariah Carey. As she grew up, she also began to study Patti Labelle, Brandy, and Beyonce for their techniques and stage presence. She began singing and dancing as a young child, thinking nothing of the natural ability to perform both. At 13, she began to write songs to instrumentals of her favorite artists of the 90’s. In high school she joined the marching band and realized she was destined to be a performer. Her first project “Lessons of Love” was released in 2015. A mixtape that describes the many circumstances a woman faces in a love gone good or bad. The style of writing reflects back to the in your face lyrics of Destiny’s Child in the late 90’s and early 2000’s.

Music Producer RQ Phillips Announces Release of his new Single

Houston, TX – April 15, 2018 – RQ Phillips, Jr., CEO and music producer for the Confezzed Noize brand, announced that he will release his new single, “Confezzed Noize Presents We Smoke (420)” on April 20, 2018. The new single will feature the talents of Mista Loon, Dank Da Smoker and Q-Loc Da Baller. Fans can find the smoke music on all streaming sources and can preorder a copy at the iTunes store.

“The formats of my instrumental beats and music online are set up for any writer or singer to go to work,” said Phillips. “You can lease or buy exclusive music from me if you like what you hear.”

Phillips is a well-known name in the Hip-Hop music and R&B genres. He’s been producing Hip-Hop beats and R&B instrumentals for more than 20 years and has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry.

‘Born in the heart of Houston’s “South Park” area, Phillip’s parents noticed he had a passion for music at an early age and encouraged his talent. By the age of 13, the young musician began DJing house parties throughout the South Side of Houston.

As his popularity grew, Phillips began listening and examining the element of the instruments within the music. Wanting to imitate and orchestrate those sounds, he purchased his first keyboard, followed by other instruments, and taught himself to play them. It was at that point that he knew he wanted to make music his life’s work.

Phillips has produced some of the most popular underground artists in the Houston area. His production credits are on hit albums that include “Crime Boss Still at Large” and he’s now giving back to the music community by mentoring promising performers ranging from Mar the Superstar, Sam Sydney and Sly Fox to Jody, Kirby D, and the Hip-Hop duo of Dangerous Smoke.

The debut of “Confezzed Noize Presents We Smoke (420)” provides an exciting new release for Phillips’ fans and music to smoke to. For aspiring and established musicians, the weekly online release of his exclusive instrumental beats and music provides unique learning and composing opportunities for musicians specializing in any genre.
