The Wraith – Daniel Correa

Daniel Correa

Tell us your real names, country of birth and childhood experience.

Daniel Correa, US, I grew up in good surroundings with loving parents, but I was bullied as a kid due to having a short temper and not understanding social cues.

.

.

.

Tell us your academic qualification.

I’m a senior about to graduate from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami.

.

.

.

Tell us about your music career, band name, musical background, experience and skills.

My music career started when I was twelve and I formed a band with some friends I had made at a music camp called Rock Camp. This went on for a few years until the band dissipated and I went ‘solo’ at 15, working with my now longtime collaborator Ahmed Barroso. From there I’ve spent most of my time writing songs and producing songs with Ahmed while also attending music school where I’ve been involved in other projects; mainly a ska band I co-started with my friend Zachary called The Zognoids. I now continue to pursue a music career under Daniel Correa and the Collective Bus.

.

.

.

Tell us about your genre, concept and idea behind your music video and the song.

The genre of the song is pop. The original concept of the video was to be a straight up traditional music video filming the band playing the song, but only Ahmed and I were available for the shoot. So we improvised. I came up with the idea of playing on cardboard instruments and just have some fun with it. The whole thing is a ‘happy accident’.

.

.

.

Tell us how to run a record label independently and successfully based on your experience as an artist.

The only advice I can distill is that planning out your content is very important. One needs to have supplementary content to be able to promote their work.

.

.

.

Tell us how you are promoting your music.

My team and I have been promoting the music through traditional social media avenues like Facebook and YouTube; we try really hard to make sure that all of the music is out there on all the digital platforms.

.

.

.

Tell us what makes you happy and what makes you sad.

My dogs make me happy. What makes me sad is that the world can’t be simple and pure like in Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood.

.

.

.

Explain clearly the story or concept behind the song.

The concept behind the song is that the depression personified into this ghost-like being known as The Wraith.

.

.

.

List the radio stations, TV stations and blogs that have aired or featured your new song.

“The Wraith” was just released a week ago and so far we have been honored with a super flattering write up by Melanie Gomez of Celeb Mix and the song has been getting mad love radio play by Randy the Maestro at Q-108 Kingston Canada.

.

Tell us about other members of your band, music producer, crew or music video director, how the song was recorded and how the music video was shot.

The other member of Collective Bus is my longtime collaborator Ahmed Barroso, the video was wonderfully directed by Luis Castaneda who has directed most of our past videos, and the cardboard instruments were made by him and his girlfriend. We shot it in an all white house that my dad’s nephew had just built to sell, and we white paper taped the background. The shooting was all done in one night. Limited funding and ingenuity can work… Ironically, my family and I later stayed in the house for a few days during Hurricane Irma as our Miami home is in an evacuation zone.

.

.

.

Tell us how long you have been in the music industry, your experience and your future goal.

I have been honing in my craft as a songwriter, composer, and performer during my time at the Frost School of Music for a few years. I hope to one day take these talents across the country in the form of a tour.

.

.

.

Tell us what makes you unique from others.

I think what makes my music unique is my voice. Its timbre is the real ‘signature’ on all my songs.

.

.

.

Tell us your weakness and strength pertaining music.

I would say my weaknesses are production and notation, but I am a really strong performer.
