Folly Rae – Sniper

Folly Rae unveils the colourful new Wes Anderson-esque video for the track titled Sniper. With the female empowerment anthem, this bold new visual sees Folly Rae performing at a strange hotel in the Californian desert, where the staff vie for her affections by taking her on a string of dates. However, things don’t go to plan when the upbeat tale takes a dark twist. Sniper is out now on Black Butter (Zara Larsson, J Hus).

Sniper – as per the title- packs a sassy punch to set blood pumping and offers the perfect entrance into Summer for this BBC Introducing-championed singer, ready to empower females everywhere. The track follows up Folly Rae’s single ‘U’, which has racked up 2 million+ streams since its release in Summer 2016.

Black Butter – the tastemakers behind Zara Larsson and J Hus- snapped up Folly Rae in 2017 after she released her debut EP Money & Power which featured production from the likes of Nana Rogues (the genius behind Tinie Tempah’s Girls Like and Drake’s Passionfruit). Folly has since been supported by the likes of BBC Music Introducing on Radio 1 and 1Xtra, headlined the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury festival and won over Huw Stephens, DJ Target and Spotify’s Austin Daboh.

Folly Rae is half Norwegian and fell in love with music from an early age; surrounded by Motown or jazz records courtesy of her family’s record player and trained as a dancer from the age of five. Folly would often pen songs and perform them to her peers, but getting the confidence took a long time as many would say her voice was too unusual. Folly decided to follow her path as a singer and songwriter regardless, citing unique artists Joni Mitchell & Sia as inspiration along the way.

Discuss multi-genre and switching from one genre to another.

My favorite music is Country, however I also love Southern Gospel, Blues, and Adult Cont./Easy Listening.

.

.

.

Explain the title of the song.

The singer is trying to escape a love gone bad, and the concept is going down a lonely highway (LOVE’S LONELY HIGHWAY), with no exit ramps, going as fast as possible to put this bad love affair behind you (get this  bad memories fading behind). The second verse the possible retry, but he ain’t taking the bait. I feel this song says a lot in few words.

.

.

.

State the reason you are into music.

To make an impact on the world through my music/songs.

Randy Jack

Randy Jack has a unique voice which truly is his own style.  You may ask “who does he sound like”? And the answer would be “Randy Jack”.  In a WCXI radio listener’s poll in Detroit Michigan he was voted the #1 country entertainer in southeastern Michigan.  Born and raised in Michigan Randy has performed at the Michigan state fair multiple times ahead of stars like Tony Orlando, Ray Charles, Ann Murray.  He later shared the stage with country greats Ernest Tubb, Billy “Crash” Craddock, Jerry Lee Lewis, & Tanya Tucker to name a few.  His second album “One of Those Nights” is thought to be even better.  His first album “Love is Taking Over” received great reviews but “One of those nights” is thought to be his best work to date.  Randy has also released his first Christmas single “Wrap Me in Your Love” originally recorded by Joe Diffie on the Mr Christmas album – this is its first release as a single and is Randy’s first Christmas release.  Randy’s version of the song has a real country purity to it.  Randy has been singing since he was a small child, encouraged by his family he never let go of his love for music instead, he has mastered it.  You’ll enjoy his brand of country music so give a listen!

The Blazing Elwoods

The Blazing Elwoods are the brainchild of Brent Wohlberg, a singer/songwriter from Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. Five years ago, Wohlberg found country music and realized that he had to write a country album. He wanted to follow in the footsteps of his new-found heros, Hank Williams Sr., Johnny Cash, Mr. Stompin’ Tom Connors, and all the old-timers….

The album was self-produced and recorded at Wohlberg’s studio, Artifact Media over the course of 3 years. It features talented guest musicians including Sarah Matt, Peter Learn, Donny Reed, Marc Donato, Guy Coutu, Brian Quebec, Joe Fiorino, Chris Peplinsky,  Nick Krawchuk, Kevin Closs, Sean Barrette, Chris Leblanc, Rick Moggy, and members of Sudbury’s Les Troubadours. Wohlberg had a lot of fun writing these tunes and hopes listeners will get a kick out of them as well.
