Phatboy – My Letter

Raymond Moore was born in Oakland, California, in 1974. I grew up playing sports like baseball, football, and boxing. I started rapping in 1996 with an artist that was signed with Atlanta records name Coz and my artist name is PhatBoy Mr. OG. During his record deal, Coz, and I did a nationwide tour with some other artists that were signed with the label from Los Angeles. We promoted the song called “Keep My Soul” produced by No Joe of Rap-a-lot records. We have done many shows, our first performance was in New York at a private showcase called the ‘ill style’ with many famous artists such as Ice T, Buster Rhymes, Old Dirty Bastard etc….We also performed at a showcase in Texas given by Source Magazine and there we performed with the Luniz when they were promoting 5 on it. After we did the tour I stopped rapping and I moved to Norway with my wife in 2000. In 2002 I got a sponsorship from a hip-hop clothes brand company from Denmark called Pyscho Cowboy Streetwear. I was performing in Denmark’s International fashion shows that they have 4 times a year. I performed, in front of some of the biggest known brand fashion liners, that the world has to offer, such as Hilfiger, Guess, Levis etc…The company went out of business so then I lost my deal and it was hard for me to bounce back into the game. It’s 2018 and I am signed with a label out of New York called Bentley Records and now I am ready to show the world what real music sounds like because I am confident with all of my experience and passion for the music this time around I will succeed and become what I was put on this Earth to be and that is a great musician.

Discuss your music career.

From 2014 to 2018 I have left the music business and was only focused on my normal job. In January 2018 a friend of my asked me to write a song and I did it just for fun and it came out sounding great. So then I wrote another song and that one came out sounding great. I came to a conclusion that I’m gonna go all the way with my music and take it to the next level. So right now I am at the starting line but I will rise to the top.

List your five favourite music videos with reasons.

Michael Jackson – Thriller will also be one of my favorites because the zombie was just amazing and well put together.

Tupac – Dear Mama song was a video that I can most definitely see myself in that situation when I was a kid.

Spice One – Welcome to the Ghetto video was a video that looks like the place where I grew and his storyline was relevant about black on black crime; it was heartfelt.

E-40 – One Love was a very hyped up energetic tune that was filmed with a very nice party setting with a lot of action and class.

Snoop Dogg – Murder was the Case video was a masterpiece. The graphics, artwork and tricks were amazing;  I love that video.

Tell us your source of inspiration

My source of inspiration comes from many areas; from something somebody said or done. I see what’s going on in the world from good to evil and that can set off a tune and suddenly melodies can appear in my mind.

.

.

.

Tell us your impression on dealing with paparazzi.

I would just go about my business and I’m not interested in talking with them.

Elaborate on the recording of this song

I and some friends got together and we started to make this tune. We were missing some elements so we asked some other guys to join us and one played the guitar and piano and we worked on the drums. It took us about a month or two to find the right tune we wanted our song to sound like. We recorded this song in my friend’s bedroom and then we sent it to New York for mastering, Bentley Records.

Tell us your future projects.

.

Tell us your thought on quality and quantity for the release of songs.

I would rather have less great sounding tracks than having a lot of tracks that don’t sound good at all.

.

.

.

Tell us your viewpoint on comparing music career to non-music career.

A non-music career is just going to work, come home, eat dinner, go to bed and then repeat; that’s boring.

A music career is having to travel a lot; meeting new people and creating new songs and just living the life that you love to do. This is the life I wanna do and I think I have what it takes to do so.

.

.

State the title of the song and the meaning.

MY LETTER – The meaning is simple, it is about a person in jail that is writing a letter to his friends and family. He’s asking why he never got a visit or a letter and he wonders …

.

.

.

State the reason for choosing this title.

MY LETTER

I chose this title because I feel it is time for someone to tell the truth about what’s going on in America. No one is really talking about it and I think we all should get together and try to stop this unjustly acts being done against innocent people.
