For Immediate Release: Cape Cod based singer-songwriter Catherine King is set to release her first full length album on October 2, 2018. Produced and recorded at Brick Hill Studio in Orleans, MA by Grammy nominated Jon Evans, the album also features drummer Liam Hogg and fiddle player Dinah Mellin. The album, titled Hold On To Your Heart consists of nine original songs and two cover tunes. This is a first for Catherine, who usually does not do covers.  “These two songs have meaning to me, and I thought I’d do something different and record them, and include them on this record. I hope I did them justice.” The title track is the only co-write on the album. Written with Steve Hamilton, the song is the result of Catherine’s efforts to grow her writing through collaboration.  “I don’t usually co-write, and I’m still trying to learn how to relax and just be open to all possibilities. It can be tough sometimes though, because my songwriting is very personal. I’m trying to be more objective these days.” Hold On To Your Heart will be available for download on CDBaby.com on October 2, 2018, and CDs will be available there soon as well. You can also buy a CD by going to www.catherinekingmusic.com and leaving a message there.

Explain the story behind the song.

I was driving home to Cape Cod from Toronto, early in the morning. I was almost at the Canadian border, when I noticed the highway just seemed to disappear into the sky…I may have been a bit tired. The song started forming in my head, and for the rest of that 9 hour drive, I mentally worked on it. When I finally got home, I sat down with my guitar and wrote the entire song. It’s actually one of my favorite songs on the album.

Ocean 104 – the Cheap Seats with Cat Wilson; the song is brand new, so I’m sure there will be more, but it’s just getting started.

Tell us how long you have been in the music business, your experience and your future goal.

I’ve been singing and writing since I was a teen. After graduating Berklee College of Music, I gave up music for over 15 years to raise my three sons. I didn’t get back to it until I went to Newfoundland to visit family. They are very musical and encouraged me to go back to writing and playing.

Tell us what makes you unique from others.

I’m a 51 year old mother of three boys…I work a day job as a Contract Administrator, working with Government Contracts (heavy stuff). Since I use my brain all day, when I get home I just want to play my guitar and sing, and hang out with my boys. It’s my release. Of course, I’d much rather be a full time singer-songwriter, but so far I still need a day job to make ends meet. It’s not easy being an indie artist.
