The Kingdom Choir – Stand by Me
Sony Music Entertainment Australia are excited to announce that The Kingdom Choir’s debut album STAND BY ME is released physically today. The choir arrive in Sydney next week to embark on a run of promotional activity which will include a performance at the Closing Ceremony of the Invictus Games Sydney 2018, presented by Jaguar Land Rover at Qudos Bank Arena on 27 October 2018.
Following their acclaimed performance of ‘Stand By Me’ at the Royal Wedding on 19 May 2018 The Kingdom Choir have captured the eyes and the ears of the world, landing them a record deal with Sony Music UK. The album’s diverse track listing includes ‘Stand By Me’ as well as a cross section of classic and contemporary vocal driven hits including Australian anthem ‘You’re The Voice’ (John Farnham), ‘Halo’ (Beyoncé) ‘All Of Me’ (John Legend) as well as ‘Blinded By Your Grace Part 2’ (Stormzy). The album also features a brand new, emotionally powerful ballad written by members of The Kingdom Choir called ‘Chases’.
The choir was founded in London 1994 by award-winning conductor Karen Gibson. The group of singers from in and around London draw from various Christian traditions and are dedicated to creating a sound that demonstrates the community they share through their warm energy and enthusiastic performance. Invictus Games Sydney 2018 Chief Executive Officer Patrick Kidd OBE said the organising committee is thrilled to have secured such an exciting line-up for the closing celebration. “The Invictus Games Sydney 2018 Closing Ceremony will be a chance to acknowledge the tremendous achievements of the competitors, their family and friends. Karen Gibson is an award-winning gospel choir conductor directing some of the most prestigious, large-scale choirs across the UK. The high standard of her work has taken her across Europe and further – Japan, Rwanda, Nigeria, Guyana, and the USA. Karen’s choirs are regular finalists or winners of choir competitions, including BBC Songs of Praise Gospel Choir of The Year. After 11 years in IT, the positive impact of gospel singing led to her establishing the community gospel choir, The Kingdom Choir in the heart of Clapham Junction.

Founded by HRH The Duke of Sussex in 2014, the Invictus Games is an international adaptive sporting event for wounded, injured and ill service men and women, both active duty and veteran. The Games use the healing power of sport to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation and celebrate the crucial role played by family and friends. The fourth Invictus Games will be held in Sydney from 20-27 October 2018. 500 competitors from 18 nations will compete in 11 medal sports with events being staged across Greater Sydney, including at Sydney Olympic Park and on and around Sydney Harbour.
